Nordiq Canada says OBN is an alternate

So does that mean Liliane Gagnon is on the team? and when will they announce the team?

That would be the only explanation that would work. This Friday is the announcement.

Does anyone want to take a stab at which quotas Canada will decline in freestyle skiing?

For men I would decline HP, Moguls, SS/BA, Skicross and for the women it would be Aerial, Mogulsx2, SS/BA

For women, I think I'd allocate the quota:

Skicross - 4

Halfpipe - 4

BA/SS - 3

Moguls - 3*

Aerials - 2*

*Could swap either Moguls/Aerials to 2 really

For the men:

Skicross - 4

Halfpipe - 3

BA/SS - 3

Moguls - 3

Aerials - 3

* Could see adding a 4th halfpiper and dropping any of BA/SS, or Moguls down to 2.

Of course injury status can change things. Once we're down to the last spot for a lot of these they're kinda interchangable

Here’s my guess at the team size in each event.

Women

Ski Cross (4), depending on Marielle Thompson and Courtney Hoffos, if one of them will be missing out on the Olympics then maybe -1

Halfpipe (4), Amy Fraser, Dillian Glennie, Cassie Sharpe, and Rachael Karker (depending on injury)

Big Air/Slopestyle (3), Naomi Urness, Olivia Asselin, Megan Oldham/Elena Gaskell (we’ll see if Oldham is healthy and ready in time)

Moguls (3), Maia Schwinghammer, Berkley Brown, and one of Jessica Linton/Ashley Koehler

Aerials (2), Marion Thenault (injury depending), and Charlie Fontaine/Alexandra Montminy

Men

Slopestyle/Big Air (3), Dylan Deschamps, Alexander Henderson, Max Moffatt

Ski Cross (4), Reece Howden, Jared Schmidt, Kris Mahler, Kevin Drury

Halfpipe (3), Brendan MacKay, Andrew Longino, Dylan Marineau

Aerials (3), Lewis Irving, Alexandre Duchaine, Miha Fontaine

Moguls (3), Mikael Kingsbury, Julien Viel, Eliot Vailancourt

We lost 6 quotas in the bobsleigh rankings this weekend.

It was always going to be hard to hang on to the 3rd men's sled but not qualifying 3 women's sleds would definitely be disappointing.

Courtney Hoffos just had surgery for her tibial plateau, mcl and meniscus so she said focusing on plan B although time is limited before the Olympics with that kind of surgery. She said she already locked in her Olympic quota after the first race, so she said she just should have taken it easy in races leading up to the Olympics but it’s not in her nature.

    • Canoe Sprint There is a now a cap of 5 athletes per gender in the kayak events (down from 6 in 2024). The World Championships has been replaced by the Olympic Qualification Rankings.   K2 lost 2 boat quotas while K4 has gained 1 boat quota. Quota distribution is quite complicated as it usually is for canoe sprint. They also force nations to compete in a minimum number of events based on the number of athletes qualified; 2 and 3 athletes per boat class must compete in 2 events, 4 must compete in all 3 events and 5 must compete in all 3 events and have two entries in the K1 event.
    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
