Arianna Fontana is preparing for the another season in a row alone with her husband in Canada and the USA, apart from the rest of the Italian team. I only hope she will still want to compete in the mixed relay in next season World Cup and at the Olympics (she competed in the women's relay last season, but not in the mixed relay) and I think that she can do a some training with the rest of the team during the season. With Fontana in the mixed relay our chances of even winning gold will increase significantly.

I did not realize Fontana competed (and medaled) in 2006 when she was only 15. Milano will be her 6th Olympics. Amazing.

Yes, but only in women`s relay in 2006. I have the impression that 20 years ago short track was more of a sport for youth people, than it is now, and you could say that Fontana is a connector between those times and now.

In the entry lists for the first World Tour event there are five russians; three female and two male. I don't know how the rules are, so is it only going to be one per race?

And then for Olympic Qualifying, how will they accumulate ranking points? Athletes don't NOCs do normally, so I am puzzled how that is going to work.

They could enter only individual races, maybe.. And instead of quota given to NOCs, individual quotas are given to each AIN competitors.

For me these are some anonymous names from Russia, does anyone know them?

Seregina came 6th in the 500m in 2022 I think, right behind Boutin in the semi. Otherwise no idea.

Russians are allowed to qualify only one person for distance, no relays are allowed.

They will not fiaght to get maximum number of quotas since they could not find enough skaters which did not violate neutrality rules.

According to this: https://isudam.blob.core.windows.net/isudamcontainer/AIN_Q&A_Final_20_12_2024_1734686416256.pdf they can only qualify one male and one female total. So they can only enter one in each race in the World Tour it would follow.

So for Olympic Qualification, how would they add the score do you think?

Qualification is based on the individual world tour ranking per distance, so they wouldn’t.
