Does anyone remember if this rule was also last time around or is it something new?

I think it must be new. I believe it relates to the new rule in the OG qualifying. The last 10 in each gender are for NOCs who didn't meet the basic quota.

Think it's something new, none of the BLR/RUS athletes have been in the WC for years.  They've had their own circuit, so the next question is whether those events are going to be retrospectively counted for FIS Points, I guess.

Russians and Belarussians have their FIS points frozen. And they would be the only ones eligible to fight for some of those 10 spots for NOCs not yet qualified. With the permission to start in the 1st period of WC expanded to 800 FIS pts, we've got 13 more countries among women and 15 among men.

Yeah, I can see now this is about something else.  Thought at first it was a back-door attempt by someone to get white shirts into Milan.

Norwegian roller ski weekend coming up.  International cast, as far as I can tell from the autotranslate.    Think we're able to see it from this link.

The winter calendar is starting to be nice and full, more and more countries have added their races and now it looks like not much is missing anymore (Switzerland for a bit, still). But...what is up with race organizers? Four years ago the calendar was filled to the brim with the two kinds of races that would be at the Olympics (freestyle sprint, classic distance), now they are surprisingly - and annoyingly - hard to find...

Especially the normally super useful FESA Cup has a disappointing list of events now :( Gonna be quite a puzzle where to go this winter. Do we have any active Finnish user who could tell us a bit about the best way to get to Muonio?

First registrations are officially done, so now we really can say that @brunamoura's first races of the Olympic season will be in :FIN Muonio! Two weeks earlier than we had planned a few months ago, originally the idea was to start in Italy at the end of November, but the Italy/Germany/Austria route this year (at least pre-Christmas) just doesn't have the right races, surprisingly and unlike previous season. Scandinavia it is then, starting with Muonio next week :)

If anyone has information on where to watch that (I don't see it in YLE's program), that is obviously very welcome.

Looks like it will only be shown on SC Play, the streaming service for the Ski Classics which one needs to subscribe to. Personally of course I'll go for that, 14 euro is a bit much for one weekend but it's important for me, but too bad for others who'd like to follow along :p

OTOH the Ski Classics races are always very long, so you get a lot of skiing for your money.  Much more than a BMX Channel, let's say.   :roflmao:

A BMX World Cup also takes 1,5 hours or so of viewing and racing :p

I'd be happier if the big classics were in November, but they won't be, so my subscription will likely only be for Olos/Muonio :d

    • Brazil are champions.  It was expected, but Portugal was a worthy opponent in this final.   Interestingly, our coach has been with this team for 10 years and has only suffered ONE defeat.
