Did they find her body?

They stopped the search, because conditions are to bad. It was her wish. She knew, that mountaineering was dangerous and wrote down, that should something ever happen to her, nobody should risk their lives to retrieve her body. In this case, she should remain in the mountains.

Could poor conditions have caused this accident? I just hope she didn't suffer before she died :(

The whole area in Pakistan has apparently been extremely warm and dry, leading to lots and lots of rockfall the entire season and a lot of climbing expeditions turning back or being outright cancelled. There's also a rumour a wrong move with the rope may have caused it, but no idea what they based that on.

They climbed the alpine method—it's faster, but also more dangerous. Earlier in July Laura had climbed another peak above 6,000 meters in this region. It's quite possible they wanted to get there quickly- before the bad weather. The season in this region lasts from June to September, so it's quite short. It was certainly unlucky, taking into account the fact, her partner wasn't hurt, but these are high mountains and even a meter in the wrong direction can cost you your life.

Her partner said today, that they decided to go back before they reached the summit. On their way back, Laura was hit by the rocks.

    • Shades of 1998 with  and  in the same group but this time it's really a terrible draw for the Thistles. I recall Brazil and Scotland played in the same group in 1974 and 1990 too so that's quite a high probabiliy rate.

    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
    • Belgium is the luckiest in this story
    • One of the worst possible draw for us. Group really easy but having to face  or  in the Round of 32 is devastating.
