Kevin Mayer is out of the decathlon due to injury. I don't think this is a major surprise, but it does bolster Warner's chances.

But this French guy is the WC of another event 3 times in a row, and beat the Cuban on the other side of the bracket in two of those finals.

I hate to say it (because I do like him), but Mayer in this form wouldn’t have been contending for medals regardless.
