Something I've felt about these Games so far: the atmosphere looks electric. Marchand, and now this among the highlights. "USA! USA! USA!" for a bronze in gymnastics.

It has been. Through the French sometimes booing when things don’t go their way is a bit disappointing.

I think 4th to 4th isn't that bad. The story is :USA really strong.

Totally agree - USA had a particularly bad qualifying which probably gave a false sense of the relative strengths of the squad.

In 2020 Olympics, we scored 255.76 for 4th. In 2024 we scored 255.527 with a much younger squad. In Antwerp WC, we scored 254.193 in qualifying before having poor final (249.46) Even in Liverpool where we had home advantage, we struggled to get much above 252.

GB have great floor and vault scores. The pommel is OK (I am excluding Whitlock given we know this is his last competition). With Whitlock gone, it potentially opens up a spot for Tulloch again which would possibly strengthen the rings score, but we have to improve our horizontal bar score if we are genuinely going to compete for podium finishes on world stage.

Whilst it would have been great to sneak a medal in the team event, I think we need to bear in mind that this squad was probably selected with a view to maximising the number of individual medals and so far, they have delivered on that objective - securing a record number of individual finals. Now they just need to convert some of those finals into medals.

But of course, there is always going to be one member of the forum who is going to vent their poison about stuff they know nothing about.

Tulloch is 28. Will he really be in LA at 32?

0.02 again! Richards winning a medal is a great return, but Scott NOT winning one is a bit disappointing

As now we come across the world
To share these Games of old
Let all the flags of every land
In brotherhood unfold

    • Hi !   Like 2024, I'll do the counts of the number of countries who will win at least one medal during these olympiads. The record for Winter Olympic Games is 30 countries for Pyeongchang. Do you think we can reach this score in 2026 ?   Like the last time, I separate all the nations in 6 different categories :         Group 1 (14)   Countries that has reached at least 5 medals in each Olympic Games from Turin to Beijing   For these countries, I'm not afraid for them, I think they'll reach their minimal quota this year.   Concerned : Austria, Canada, China, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, USA + AIN     Group 2 (7)   Countries that has reached at least 5 medals in one of the 5 last Olympiades   I think they'll also gain at least one medal this year, but be careful !   Concerned : Belarus, Czechia, Japan, Latvia, Poland, Slovena, UK     Group 3 (6)   Countries that won at least 1 medal in at least 2 of their participations in Olympic Games from Turin to Beijing   they are still here, but they are not immune to poor performance ! From there, we will take a look on these countries.   Concerned : Australia, Croatia, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Slovakia, Ukraine     Group 4 (6)   Countries that won at least 1 medal in at least 1 of their participations in Olympic Games from Turin to Beijing   We will clearly not bet on them, but they have already the experience of the win !   Concerned : Belgium, Bulgaria, Hungary, Liechtenstein, New Zealand, Spain     Group 5 (17)   Countries that never won a medal in the last 5 Olympiads, but have at least 5 qualified Athletes this time   Maybe the quantity will prime above the quality for them !   Concerned (in order of number of qualified) : Romania, Lithuania, Brazil, Israel, Georgia, New Taipei, Turkey, Argentina, Andorra, Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, Greece, Bosnia, Armenia, Moldova, Mexico, South Africa     Group 6 (43)   Else     (please note : I just check that, I don't know which athletes has the best chances in each sports).     So, if we go on the fact that groups 1,2,3 and 4 will win at least on medal for each, we have a base of 33 and make the record ! That will be our goal this time   (Also in the topic, i'll take the count for each Group during these Olympic Games)   Thanks for reading !         Current results   Events : 0   Groupe 1 : 0/14 Groupe 2 : 0/7 Groupe 3 : 0/6 Groupe 4 : 0/6 Groupe 5 : 0/17 Groupe 6: 0/43     Total : 0/33
