Kiripichnikova now it`s French. Jefimova, the one from Russia (because she is even younger from Estonia and also swims breaststroke), is probably already old and has no chance of winning medals. It's strange that she's still thinking about something.

Yes, it is about that "old Yefimova".

She did not apply for the neutral status until the last moment.

At the last moment she decided to try and get the status quickly.

But she had only one week to get OQT. So she tried to go to Italy but all the entries deadlines passed.

So she went to Bahamas and expected to improve her season best for a second but failed.

She used to be a nice girl, although she was more of a "girl next door" type :P I remember that she had a conflict with Meliutyte years ago. Did Yefimova comment on the war in anyway?

I did not hear nothing from her pro or contra.

A lot of athletes and coaches in russia are silent because they want to compete / train internationally.

But those who are not going to do this support the regime actively (Vaelbe, Karyakin, Valuev, Zhurova and e t.c.).

I remember that battle in London 2012. Meliutyte was a real sensation of the Games.

But you are it is too late for her.

It looks like :CZE may benefit again from the reallocation ) @Jan Linha

Pentathlon Mariya Gnedtchik Women`s individual Veronika NOVOTNA :CZE Reallocation to another NOC
Pentathlon Anastasiya Prokopenko Women`s individual Anna JURT :SUI Reallocation to another NOC

Unfortunately, Pilato is not as talented as Meliutyte to fight for gold in Paris. Pilato once seemed like a great talent when she broke the 50-meter world record. Then she was the 100 world champion in 2022 but with a rather poor time and a weak team. Actually, I wonder why there was such strong swimming in Ukraine - the times of Klochkowa, Lisogor etc, when there were very few such indoor 50-meter swimming pools. Once, when I was visiting a friend in Lutsk - sometime in 2017, I wanted to go to the swimming pool in the summer and it was only small recreational pool with many people. And Lutsk is a center of oblast city, so it's not that small.

Thanks for the good news. Czech federation mentioned that they are waiting for confirmation as Novotná is first below the line.  Let's see what they post today.

Anyways, that would be first time in the history for :CZE to have 4 pentathletes 💪💪💪

Does anybody know something about shooting? AIN won 3 quota places but wir the new update they only invite the two female athletes.

Will the male quota place be relocated?

"The Belarusian Wrestling Federation reports with great regret that 9 out of 10 wrestlers selected for Paris will not take part in the Olympic Games by decision of the IOC, Abubakar Khaslakhanov will become the only representative of Belarusian wrestling."

Apparently also by their own decision, because more than 1 wrestler was accepted and invited, but most were declined:

Edit: I see I am mightily late with this information, sorry :p

    • For the summary and lowlights of Thailand's preparation in hosting the ongoing Sea Games, I kindly suggest those who are interested to read from this English language article from Thai media outlet, Thai Enquirer: https://www.thaienquirer.com/63469/thailands-sea-games-2025-under-fire-budget-management-and-technical-controversies/
    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
    • After looking at the entry list of athletes in the official website, I've changed some of my predictions in the Olympic events with these changes:   Total Tally: Thailand 87, Singapore 51, Vietnam 48, Indonesia 33, Philippines 24, Malaysia 22, Cambodia 1     Badminton (5): Malaysia 2, Thailand 1, Singapore 1, Indonesia 1   Men’s Singles: Switched from Thailand to Singapore     Boxing (11): Thailand 8, Philippines 2, Vietnam 1   Men: -54 kg (-55 kg): Thailand, -60 kg: Thailand, -63.5 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -69 kg (-70 kg): Thailand, -80 kg: Philippines   Women: -50 kg (-51 kg): Thailand, -54 kg: Thailand, -57 kg: Thailand, -60 kg: Vietnam, -66 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -70 kg: Philippines     Sailing (7): Thailand 4, Singapore 2, Malaysia 1   ICLA 6: Switched from Thailand to Malaysia     Taekwondo (8): Thailand 6, Vietnam 2   -67 kg: Switched from  Vietnam to Thailand     Weightlifting (5): Thailand 2, Philippines 1, Indonesia 1, Malaysia 1   Men: -65 kg: Malaysia, -94 kg (-95 kg): Thailand   Women: -53 kg: Thailand, -69 kg: Philippines, -77 kg: Indonesia   * I saw that they have actually change the weight categories to almost match that of IWF newly introduced categories from several months ago.      Wrestling (12): Vietnam 7, Philippines 3, Indonesia 2   Men's Freestyle: -57 kg: Philippines, -65 kg: Vietnam, -74 kg: Vietnam, -86 kg: Philippines Men's Greco-Roman: -67 kg: Indonesia, -77 kg: Vietnam, -87 kg: Indonesia, -97 kg: Vietnam Women's Freestyle: -50 kg: Vietnam, -53 kg: Vietnam, -57 kg: Vietnam, -62 kg: Philippines
    • Many permutations possible in the last game, going to be a nail-biter!  v  is the live game on the Olympic Channel later today.   2025 WCF Curling Olympic Qualification Event – Kelowna, Canada   Team   Wins   Losses   Men       CHN 6   0     P USA 5   1     P JPN 4   2     NED 3   3     PHI 3   3     KOR 2   4     NZL 1   5     POL 0   6
    • This is absolutely ridiculous. If you aren’t willing to celebrate Pride then you should simply not come to Seattle. You have to respect local customs.   https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c208392884jo
