:CAN team for Paris

Josipa Kafadar - Women’s 49kg

Skylar Park - Women’s 57kg

Skylar Park is our only medal contender here. World #4, won her first ever Grand Prix gold medal last season in Taiyuan, and won Pan American Games gold as well.

But I’m afraid she’ll bomb out in the quarterfinals again like she did in Tokyo as a medal contender:facepalm::whistle::cry:

  • 1 month later...

WT just published the June ranking which will be used for the Olympic seeding

athletes from France will be seeded 4th if they are not ranked better.

still it's not possible to fully predict the brackets because of the Wild Cards . some of possible universality place candidates are ranked high and can change the seeding completely.

also there are some questions about the "refugee" athletes. Mansouri and conman Mehdipournejad both participated at 87kg during the Euro Champs. not sure which weight they will participate in Paris. both of them are in 80kg ranking for now.

and there is another question about 49kg Oceania's quota. Australia apparently took that to the CAS. but even if they lose I'm not sure what Morocco is going to do with this. their original athlete (El Bouchti) already moved up to 57kg and lost all of her ranking points in her old weight. will they give her special permission to go back to her old weight ? or she will be seeded last ?

There is also the question of whether or not :MAR would even lost it's quota in this situation.

There was a similar situation where :AUS went to CAS before the 2010 Olympics because they got denied a continental quota in the two-woman bobsleigh. Ultimately CAS sided with Australia (the qualification document as it was written was quite clearly on their side), but CAS also let :IRL, who had gotten the re-allocated quota, keep their quota.

Final Entries

http://m.worldtaekwondo.org/competition/view.html?nid=141210&mcd=L06

MKD took the women's 57kg wild card and not Sierra Leone. which means we will have another Kiani vs Alizadeh in the first round :(

also our 49kg girl has to withdraw from the Games if they reinstate El-Bouchti's ranking points , she moved to 57kg (thinking she lost the quota) and therefore lost all her ranking points. for now she will be ranked last but they reinstate her points that will be trouble. but I assume they won't.

I still can't understand how the hell they gave that +80kg quota to Uzbekistan, now they have 3 male athletes !!  that shouldn't happen under current rules.

Gurtsiev of BLR is also there, which means we have 18 athletes for men's 58kg.

I was looking into taekwondo rankings. This appears to be the ranking (end of June) they will use for seeding:
https://worldtkd.simplycompete.com/playerRankingV2?limit=25&pageNo=1&month=6&year=2024&rankingCategoryId=11ea9376-9371-e3ef-aefb-0af9674366aa&subCategory1=11ea9376-4530-2b19-aefb-0af9674366aa&rankingTypeId=11ea9376-1b54-af01-aefb-0af9674366aa

I understand that the French athletes when present will be ranked at least 4th (but can be ranked higher if they have a higher ranking than 4th).

Anyone willing to take a look and see if the seeding I derived for the 58kg makes sense?

I cannot confirm but..
