Badminton at the Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024

Mixed draws for :IND players.

P.V Sindhu is in the right half of the bracket & should fancy her chances of progressing deep into the tournament. Could well be another memorable Olympics for the only female athlete in the country’s history to win 2 olympic medals at consecutive games.

Men’s Singles is interesting, we knew Lakshya being unseeded will get a tough path but if he can get out of his group ( which is not too bad considering he had close matches in the past with Christie) then he runs into his compatriot Pranoy in R of 16. Which ensures at least one Indian in the QF. Could have been worse could have been better but an interesting draw for our boys.

Women’s Doubles : Tough group, they can get out of this group but can very well loose both matches & exit from group stage. I would have preferred Group B.

Men’s Doubles : Was eagerly waiting for this draw , as this event could be a medal prospect for us but unfortunately they had to postpone the draw as we have 17 teams now instead of 16

I have a question. In any case France could qualify just one pair because both of them were outside of Top 8. Fine, BWF made a mistake in calculation and we aren't clear which pair shall qualify. Why can't BWF ask French federation to nominate 1 pair, how can both pairs qualify

They already followed the rules and nominated the Popovs. Corvee/Labar wants to fight by appealing to CAS, FFBaD just help and support them to do so.

If they lost then FFBaD still have a men's doubles, if they win they can add another home pair. Why settle with one pair when you can add another one without much risk...

But in women’s singles, there’s only 13 groups. How would they determine which 3 athletes go through to the round of 16?

    • As a Habs fan, I'm sorry on a personal level that they're not going to Italy. But both Caufield and Hutson have been tearing it up since the roster was announced, and they are playing in front of Guerin twice to show him what he's missing. As a Canadian hockey fan, I'm also fine with these decisions. Never get in the way of your enemy making a mistake.

    • The Irish Luge Federation has gone to CAS    - The Irish Luge Federation (ILF) has filed an appeal against the International Luge Federation (FIL), challenging a FIL decision on 26 January 2026 concerning Luge athlete Ms Elsa Desmond (Ireland). The Appellant argues that the FIL unlawfully deprived the IFL of a qualifying place for the 2026 OWG by failing to allocate a remaining qualification place and unlawfully allocating qualification places to athletes granted Individual Neutral Athlete (AIN) status.   The ILF requests that CAS declare a failure to allocate them a qualifying place in violation of the FIL Qualification System. It also requests that CAS order the FIL to allocate a qualification place to the Olympic Federation of Ireland to enter an athlete into the women’s singles luge event for the 2026 OWG. - from a CAS press release
