At the end of the whole qualifying period, right ? Not in this race ?

They are both decided at the same event. The last chance quotas takes priority, then the emerging nations quotas are decided.

And now, for Emerging Nations Programe.

If not qualified, the best placing in each event of the following NOCs would get a quota according to the qualification process:

I think there's only one quota in each event or has this changed?

I understand that the best non qualifier of that list qualifies according to the result of this event.

I see.

Well, thanks. I do not have any expectations, as I have zero clue about this whole topic, and I do not have any idea about the level of our sailor and how big are his chances, but I assume it must be quite low (both - his level and his chances to win that free gift quota as well)

Yup, you are rigth. That's what happens for trusting wikipedia  Only 1 quota in ILCA.

Howewer, it should be two in IQFOIL, no? Cause I was trying to look how wikipedia could have put two there, and I found this part:

Since the woman's IQFoil in the African regatta and the men's one in the Oceanian one werent allocated... it should go to the Developing Nations Programe, no?

You are correct. However, does this adds another complexity, does the 49er, 49erFX & Nacra17 have eligible nations?

Going by this document they do, but they don't have athletes in the emerging nations program.

Hopefully, World Sailing provides more clarity soon.

    • ""The most important thing, in my opinion, is mental preparation" - Maria Vynnyk said this on Thursday after winning the first major gold medal; maybe this is where the secret lies. As you said, Ukrainian girls have always been strong, but not dominant at continental level; my conjecture is that the Russian invasion has made them mentally stronger, giving them that extra edge needed to tilt the balance in the final stages of a competition.
