Disappointing week for Greece in Europe Group I, finished second in our group (beat Sweden 2-1 and Norway 3-0 but lost 2-1 to Serbia where Sakkari only played doubles...), then advanced to the next group where we needed to beat Latvia and Denmark to get promoted. Got the job done 3-0 against Latvia (Ostapenko only played doubles), and then lost 2-1 to Denmark (without Wozniacki).

Pretty disappointing in the end. Tauson played an incredible match to beat Sakkari, and Grammatikopoulou lost to Svendsen who is ranked in the 500s. I am not sure why Papamichail didn't play in such an important match instead of Grammatikopoulou who was mediocre all week, and also Papamichail is more stable but congrats to the Danish girls for pulling off big upsets in both singles matches @Wumo@Agger

Well, we beat CZE in QF here. Nice. Maybe we will even win this thing. Or not. Whatever.

After Iga lost that semi in Paris olympics i was so disappointed that i just can't enjoy this tournament. It doesn't matter much to me.

But at least she lost to a very good player there. Not some random player from the bottom of Top 100.

If anyone would have said to me that :SVK womens tennis team will be in the fed cup (however it is called now) in Semifinals in this decade I would never believe it.

Hell, we barely qualified one female to the olympics thanks reallocationns of reallocations... and now.. suddenly a cetain Rebecca landed from somewhere from the sky and we are in Semifinal ! Absolutely insane :bounce:

    • poir Madsen had a very unlucky debut at the CWC he seriously injured himself (dislocated shoulder and possible concussion) in an attempt to save a boundary in the very early stages of Today' match vs Scotland   moreover, Italy lost badly against the Scots, allowing them to score 207 runs in the 1st innings (it took 14 overs to get the 1st wicket) and going well short chasing that score (we immediately saw that today wasn't the day when our lead batsman went out at the very 1st ball thanks to an amazing but improbable catch by a Scottish fielder)   in all this, a couple of highlights to be recorded: Hasan Ali with a very efficient bowling performance (5.25 economy, 1 wicket) and Harry Manenti with good 52 runs in just over 30 balls with the bat
    • The Italian team has already achieved a better result than the Chinese team in 2022 at home. The Italian team has made enormous progress since 2023, when we were still losing to Korea and Poland. Of course, this is mainly due to naturalizations, but China did the same. It's one of the few sports that have made significant progress before these Olympics and this is how it should be in most disciplines at home games.
