Sounds awesome :d

Sailing usually has a 'TV course' I believe, with races on that one being shown?

So right after the Olympics no more replays on Discovery Plus (or Max or whatever is called in other countries)?

No, I think they have rights for a certain time….three months or something.  That’s the way it has been in the past. Then the copyright reverts to the IOC.

they have the rights until the end of the year, but after Tokyo the Olympic section on D+ disappeared after less than 2 weeks

some events were still available looking for the "all sports" section, but they were mixed up with all the other events of those disciplines and however they disappeared way before the supposed timeline

the (partially) good thing was that the IOC had a decent iOS and Android app with all the Olympic replays working for quite some time (I didn't appreciate the poor picture quality with 25fps though), but then they decided to screw it up and left the files only on their website (which is so uncomfortable, basically unwatchable)

if they don't make an app for all the connected devices, it's a useless effort

yes, in Tokyo they had a TV course with races of 2 classes/day (shuffling the classes all around to have some coverage for all of them)

moreover, they always have the medal races course (well covered by tv cameras), which is closer to the shore than the regular courses

Eurosport streaming now moved to max, but somehow still can not find a single info about the Eurosport 3-9 channels, will there be also on max or not ? I mean it is not the end of the world obviously, as we have everything on their own streams there, and to be fair I doubt I´ll watch specifically the TV Eurosports channels at all, it is just, well, because I found it quite strange they moved everything there except these pop up channels

Huh, who knew. Sounds cool though, but yeah, I'm not sure what it would add when you can already go for any stream you want :p

So far I'm not unhappy with HBO btw. The only way the player went back in quality compared to Eurosport's is the fast-forward option, which goes much slower on HBO than on Eurosport, but alright.

Strangely on the HBO app it definitely works better than on the Eurosport app (where the -/+ 15 seconds button would disappear every time after clicking it, so if you want to skip a minute at a time, it goes slow). But on the computer, the Eurosport website's player worked perfectly, just needed to hold the forward key and you'd easily skip through minutes of introductions or otherwise 'empty' time.

A truly massive advantage of HBO though: continueing where you left off! Eurosport had that until 2-3 years ago or something, and then they just...took it away. Which was so insanely annoying, especially when watching for example a multiple hours long stream or video. On HBO you can watch on your phone or tablet, later switch to your TV and simply continue right where you left off, watch for a bit, and continue on your phone or whatever, perfect :d

    • How wonderful!   I met the national rowing (and beach rowing) coach of EST/LTU/LAT on the way to ice hockey one day, who's Canadian by the way. I also flew home on the same flight as JC Schoonmaker's mom and friends, so we chatted for a bit.
    • Yea I only used transit besides this Uber / bus to the airport and back. All the venues were at the end of the line, so it allowed you to speak with other fans/volunteers etc. I even met Corrine Stoddard's mom after the first session of short track on the way back, and told her to remember our conversation if she won a medal later in the Olympics. We know how that ended up...
    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
