meanwhile, at the top of the men's standings, :NED Luc Van Opzeeland and :ITA Nicolò Renna have already destroyed the entire field (the 3rd ranked, :ISR Tom Reuveney is 33.5 pts behind the 2nd ranked Renna)

they're just a class apart, I'd be really upset if the Olympic Gold and Silver won't be a close fight between those 2 guys

in the top 10, there are 4 surfers from :FRA and 2 from :NED, then 1 each from :ITA:ISR:AUS and :POL

in the women's ranking, :GBR Emma Wilson has a comfortable (20 pts) lead :ESP Pilar Lamdrid Trueba, who also has a big margin over the 3rd ranked, :ISR Katy Spichakov

in the top 10, there are 4 girls from :ISR, meanwhile :GBR:ESP:ITA:NED:POL and :CHN have 1 surfer each one

in any case, it's important to remember that the medal stages will eventually reshuffle the entire field, with the only exception of the series winner, who's sure to get at least the Bronze medal (thanks to the craziest format man can find in the sport)

Big and very interesting battle for the Dutch :NED Olympic ticket between Luc van Opzeeland (currently 1st) and Kiran Badloe (currently 4th). Badloe is the reigning Olympic champion in the RS:X and is now fighting for his last chance to qualify for Paris/Marseille.

    • As a Habs fan, I'm sorry on a personal level that they're not going to Italy. But both Caufield and Hutson have been tearing it up since the roster was announced, and they are playing in front of Guerin twice to show him what he's missing. As a Canadian hockey fan, I'm also fine with these decisions. Never get in the way of your enemy making a mistake.

    • The Irish Luge Federation has gone to CAS    - The Irish Luge Federation (ILF) has filed an appeal against the International Luge Federation (FIL), challenging a FIL decision on 26 January 2026 concerning Luge athlete Ms Elsa Desmond (Ireland). The Appellant argues that the FIL unlawfully deprived the IFL of a qualifying place for the 2026 OWG by failing to allocate a remaining qualification place and unlawfully allocating qualification places to athletes granted Individual Neutral Athlete (AIN) status.   The ILF requests that CAS declare a failure to allocate them a qualifying place in violation of the FIL Qualification System. It also requests that CAS order the FIL to allocate a qualification place to the Olympic Federation of Ireland to enter an athlete into the women’s singles luge event for the 2026 OWG. - from a CAS press release
