Whisper it quietly....possible Olympic Hoy-trick?

She is probably the bookmakers favourite in all 3 but if you break it down I'd estimate her chances right now at:

Team Sprint 50-60%

Individual Sprint 65-75%

Keirin - 25%-30%

Rounds 3 and 4 of the UEC BMX European Cup take place next weekend.

It is a full strength team for the :GBR men again - Quillan Isodore, Kye Whyte and Ross Cullen are all down for the men's elite and will be joined by Eddie Moore. No sign of Paddy Sharrock though - I don't think he is injured but I don't have a record of him competing since World Cup Round 4 in Brisbane.

Likewise for the women, both Shriever and Hutt are scheduled to compete so there is a chance that they could do enough to overtake :COL in the Olympic rankings.

  • 2 weeks later...

1-2-3 for the men at the European Cup

1.) Kye Whyte

2.) Ross Cullen

3.) Paddy Sharrock

For the women, unfortunately Emily Hutt could only finish 8th in the final of the under 23s.

Ranking update after round 3 of European Cup. Unfortunately, today was a Class 1 event so Whyte's victory is only worth 100 UCI points whilst Cullen picks up 86 for finishing second so, whilst they have closed the gap on Switzerland, to around 450 points.

Tomorrow's 4th round of European Cup is a Hors Class event so there are more points available - 200 for the victory and points awarded to the top 16 ridersso there is potential to close the gap further if the British team can hold their form.

On the women's side, Shriever's absence meant that we picked up just 12 points today from Emily Hutt's 8th place. Colombia is therefore still about 400 points ahead of GB. Annoyingly, we had 2 junior riders inside the top 4 of their event but they don't count for Olympic ranking.

Time is beginning to run out for GB women to get into 5th place and secure 2 riders in Paris. Including tomorrow, there are 3 rounds of the European Cup left within the qualification window, 2 rounds of the World Cup along with the continental and world championships.

Kye Whyte does the double at the European Cup, taking his second win of the weekend while Sharrock finishes 4th. Isodore was a DNS and Cullen was knocked out in the semi-finals.

Emily Hutt was DNF in the semi-final of the women's under 23.

Must be good points for the lads, now with that Hors cat. Probably relatively safe now with 2, and Kye increasingly looks a real threat come Paris

Unfortunately the push for two on the women's side looks goosed at this point, but if Schriever is fit and on form, should be good to o for at least the podium

    • Update after Matchdays 8 and 9.   Group A:  is almost a lock with 21p, and 7 games 7 wins. Almost impossible for them to not qualify. The battle is in the second place between  (16p) and  (13p).  with 8p is almost out.  and  eliminated.   Group B:  won both of the 2 games so is almost secured with 19p.  is second with 14p, with  (1 more game played) and  with 11p.  is eliminated and  practically too (6p)   Group C:  went 2 out of 2 so they are still first with 16p and one game less than the rest. The battle for second place will be between  14p,  11p and  9p.  eliminated and  (with one game less and 4p) probably too.   Group D: Only 3 for 2 places.  first with 19p has the advantage, but coming close is  with 16p. They played each other in the Matchday 11 of 12. Coming in third behind is  with 11p. ,  and  eliminated.   Group E: Both  and  won both matches so its still the same, Poland first with 24p and Italy second with 21p, which is the best runner-up and also qualifying directly, so is very likely that both teams end up qualifying no matter who finish first and second. , ,  and  eliminated.   Group F: A tie between  18p and  18p. Germany has the goal advantage (+21 to +20), and has to play the three weaker teams, so its more likely to qualify. Coming behind are  with 10p and  with 9p, which are practically eliminated with  and   Group G:  takes the advantage with 12p and one game less.  and  both have 7p, and coming behind are  5p (but one game less) and  with 5p.   Group H:  with the win against  moved to first place with 13p (and one game less), and Turkey stays in second with 11p.  is coming in third with 8p, while  is eliminated and  have 3p and one game less.   Group I: A triple tie between ,  and  with 10p. Belgium have the advantage because they have the best head to head points and one game less. Austria is second in the H2H difference and Denmark is third but with also one game less.  have 6p and  is eliminated.   The next 3 and last matchdays will define the 10 qualified teams and the 8 that will go to the playoffs. Matchdays will be 24-26 September, 28Sep-1Oct and 5-6 October, 2026.
