  • 4 months later...

it looks that earlier Today the :GBR crew of Ineos Britannia made the decisive break and now they're just 1 win away from the Louis Vuitton Cup and the chance to face Team Emirates New Zealand for the America's Cup

in Today's 2 races, for the first time there was no share of victories between the :ITA and :GBR crews, instead the :GBR guys were simply better than the Italians, who made a capital mistake in the choice of the jib in the 1st race and just lost the start battle (and therefore the race) in the 2nd head-to-head

now Ineos Britannia leads the best-of-13 series by a score of 6-4

game over!

:GBR Ineos Britannia wins the 11th race against :ITA Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and takes the Louis Vuitton Cup home by a final score of 7-4

once again, with those boats and those rules, the start was the key of the whole race

winning the early engagement and gaining the advantage to choose the side of the regatta course where to go first made any effort of the opposing team useless, like in some F1 circuits (like Montecarlo) there's no chance to overtake (unless the opponent makes a capital mistake or breaks the boat -it happened twice to LR in this final series)

for :GBR, this is the first America's Cup match appearance since 1964, when the Royal Thames Yacht Club (boat: Sovereign) lost (4 races to 0) to the :USA New York Yacht Club (boat: Constellation) in :USA Newport

the 37th America's Cup match (best-of-13 races regatta) will start next Saturday, October 12th, always in :ESP Barcelona and features the defending team :NZL Emirates New Zealand and the challengers, :GBR Ineos Britannia
