Dunno what any of it means, but there’s more Norwegian summer cross-country racing this weekend.

There is still the possibility that this will be drop in the autumn meeting.

Per any chance this happened, and the idiotic team->individual decision is moved to the trash where it belongs?

As of October 2nd, no, it's still going on.

Quote

FIS Cross-Country World Cup Rules 2020/21

In addition to the existing additional quota COC leader/winner rule, a definition was approved to rule 3.1.4 in case of cancellations of COC competitions.

As already approved in the sprint meetings, athletes competing in team competitions will score individual World Cup points according to the final ranking of their team. Relays will count for Distance World Cup and Overall World Cup standings. Team Sprints will count for the Sprint World Cup and Overall World Cup standing. The updated table for individual points in team competitions can be found in rule 6.1.2 in the updated World Cup rules.

Regulations concerning the C-19 Event preparation group have been adapted in the World Cup Rules and added to the FIS Nordic JWSC and U23 WSC Rules.

Can still be non-approved on October 9th, but I fear it will not happen. I really don't get why would they do this, seems extremely unfair to anyone not from Norway (and a bit from Russia).

I'll still watch, I'm a fan, but a pissed one.

It's raceweek :woohoo::woohoo:

image.png

The classic mass starts on Saturday will be on a new track layout at the local park in São Carlos (Damha). The sprints and the freestyle interval races will be at the same tracks as the past four times these distances have been held there, which makes for interesting stuff in terms of comparing times - unless it's going to rain, which is a fairly real possibility.

Either a lie or a mistake from the Brazilian federation there. It says 'these races also count for the ranking towards the Olympics!', but their recent internal criteria document very clearly and literally stated no rollerski races will count towards the Olympics. So either they've changed that again (which wouldn't be surprising), or they've made a mistake (which wouldn't be surprising) or they're outright lying (last option, but....one which wouldn't be surprising).

And that's another Brazilian Rollerski Circuit victory for @brunamoura :woohoo:

https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=CC&raceid=36634

Surprisingly close though, Duda Ribera was only 15 seconds behind, that's...new! There was word of her trainings going very well, it's good to see that is indeed the case. Also, strong wind had an effect as well on the race, with Duda and Mika Picin working together to try and chase Bruna, who had opened up the gap on the first uphill and managed to hold on until the finish despite the wind blowing in their faces.

As for the men, a breakaway of four sprinted for the win, with young Gu Oliveira being the maybe not very surprising, but definitely new name in the top, very interesting development right there.

Our favorite Brazilian cross-country skier has been beaten :yikes:

Young Tatah da Silva was too strong in the last meters of today's freestyle sprint final, where Bruna was leading for roughly 1.37 of 1.4 kilometers. Oh well, that happens and there's no shame at all when someone is simply a bit too strong on a given day. I was very impressed with Tatah's skiing in the sprints last year, so I'm not that surprised she is the first new woman to take a win. Third place for Duda, who beforehand I'd have given a better chance.

As for the men: young Gu Oliveira took his very first Rollerski Circuit win as well, what a day for the youngsters! Olympian Victor Santos was comfortably the fastest in qualifying, but was disqualified for a double false start in the final...

Next up: tomorrow's 5k freestyle, time for revenge :bones:

Totallympics has got another Brazilian Rollerski Circuit win :woohoo:

The 5k freestyle, as announced yesterday: revenge! @brunamoura crossed the line with a victory scream in what was a massive new personal best time! Second place for Duda, who absolutely broke apart her old PB  The women and girls are improving left and right and that is really awesome to see!

Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg will not compete this season. She and her medical staff have stated they are still concerned over her health issues when it comes to her overall energy intake which is still not sufficient to compete for a whole season. Her insufficient energy intake also raises concerns about her being more prone to injuries. She will focus on training this winter and put her focus towards Beijing 2022.

    • It’s honestly baffling how bad she was in 2018. Just absolutely lost her head. Real shame too because she is so gifted. I do hope Li Jianrou sends her a Christmas card every year tho, she was absolutely gifted a gold medal by Christie in 2014.
    • Oh I’m not done yet, unfortunately. From the names that could be back but are still injured   Courtney Hoffos Mikael Kingsbury (should be back before the Olympics) Connor Howe (he returned, but nowhere close to his best so his injury is still giving him issues) Connor Bedard Meryeta O’Dine Megan Oldham
