It seems incredible according to the Video, it is the Italian swimmer who made an obstruction on the French swimmer and not the reverse :yikes:

well, really hard to judge, The Italian obstrusted and closed the way for the french, but the french stoped the italian literally jumping over her and pushing her down... a pretty tough call

The rule starboard tack, applies to sea and the French swimmer had priority. She was sent in the buoy by the Italian swimmer before the key. Strange decision except if something happen out of the tv video??

Oh, now I see it. The French swimmer really made the Italian girl dive when she pushed her weight onto her, and since she had already received a penalty, she was ultimately disqualified.

Well Rumors openly started already about Tokyo 2020, yesterday and after the trials he said that he absolutely not coming back.

I doubt he will get a real job, i'm sure he will go to work for nbc just like nastia liukin, or work for USA Swimming... though think about some student going to class and seeing phelps in his class.... thats hillarious

Many famous people went to university when already being famous, i recall Jodie Foster and Natalie Portman from the back of my head ...

In Germany there is also the possibility to study at an university without being physically present, in the US you would probably call it a distance university. Tons of german footballers (for example Oliver Kahn) got a degree after the end of their career, so i think Phelps should also be able to get one (if hes smart/ambitious enough). I honestly hope that he and Bolt will retire and i have no problem to say that i like him, but likewise i have to say that the most important thing for him is to find a new meaning in life, so that he wont get alcohol/drug problems again, i hope that his family will be able to hold him down to earth.

what a finish ! amazing last kilometer.

And Dutch double after Van Rouwendaal yesterday, today won Weertman in a absolutely crazy finish :)

Nagy 20th but only 30 seconds behind the winner in his marathon swimming major competition debut. only his 3rd careers 10km race . this is very good :yes

Sidney Crosby is considering.    Czechia Filip Hronek, D (Vancouver Canucks) Jakub Lauko, F (Boston Bruins) Karel Vejmelka, G (Utah Hockey Club) Dan Vladar, G (Calgary Flames)   David Pastrnak is possible    Finland Justus Annunen, G (Nashville Predators) Juuso Parssinen, F (New York Rangers) Juuse Saros, G (Nashville Predators) Teuvo Teravainen, F (Chicago Blackhawks) Eeli Tolvanen, F (Seattle Kraken)    Germany Philipp Grubauer, G (Seattle Kraken) Moritz Seider, D (Detroit Red Wings)    Sweden Rasmus Andersson, D (Calgary Flames) Mikael Backlund, F (Calgary Flames) Leo Carlsson, F (Anaheim Ducks) William Eklund, F (San Jose Sharks) Filip Forsberg, F (Nashville Predators) Adam Larsson, D (Seattle Kraken) Isac Lundestroem, F (Anaheim Ducks) Marcus Pettersson, D (Vancouver Canucks) Alexander Wennberg, F (San Jose Sharks)   Mika Zibanejad is also likely. • Regarding the swimming they have added the 800m for men and the 1500m for women so cutting numbers would be odd.
    • That quota I’ve been told by an athlete aiming to qualify who I know online.
    • Has the quota for Canada been offically confirmed anyway, or is that just a rumour? I can't find anything on google about it (nor the suggested quota for England's athletes someone posted earlier).   12 per gender would make sense (it's roughly what Canada sent to Birmingham). 12 overall seems dumb.
    • Some sports have qualification systems   3x3 basketball (wheelchair) Para-cycling Powerlifting Weightlifting
    • In the past few games, Canada (and other nations) was given an overall athlete quota which they then divided it through the various sports.
    • Whose decision was this, Team Canada's or the Organising committes?
    • I’ve been told there are no straight finals planned for the swimming.
    • I’m suprsied the games is still that big!
    • Actually now that I look at the numbers, it makes even less sense. Almost the entire reduction of 4800 athlete down to 3000 is explained by the removal of events. There's no reason to halve our swim team, considering we likely have the third strongest team
