World Games 2025

I have, again, questions :p

What's up with so many team sambo matches being cancelled today?

Spoiler

Also, I knew sambo is heavily Russia-oriented, but I didn't know that like in wrestling everyone and their mom has gotten themselves a Dagestani to fight for them :d

Just now noticed that 'road inline skating' isn't really what I thought it was, but just...well, a track...that happens to have a road-like surface

I thought I was watching track inline skating the past two days, when they were skating on a track, turns out that was road. Roughly the same names in both I see, too bad there aren't really that interesting names from the world of speed skating - I've seen Fran Vanhoutte :BEL and Dan Guo :CHN and that's about it.

inline skating has normally 2 and a half "disciplines": "track" racing is done on a 200m oval track like the indoor athletics' but with a hard surface (and more often than not still outdoor), "road" racing is divided into the classic events (same criteria of the track racing, but on longer distances) contested on a road surface-alike track (with all kinds of shape possible and the lap distance being between 300m and 500m) and the true road events (the 100m race -normally being a time trial qualification race and then a knockout phase for the best 16/32- and the marathon race -no need to explain that...it is just what everybody imagine)

about participation, it's clear that the athletes care much about the world skate games and the world championships a lot more than the world games, especially because some big names who try and share the duties between inline and speedskating right now are already working for the season on the ice and the Olympic dream -2 names above all: Bart Swings and Metodej Jilek

The one you are talking about is not péanque ;), but boule lyonnaise, which as its name will tell you comes from Lyon and not the Porvence area.

Traditionnaly, it's as much cig and booze compatible as the other one. But, they have been trying this 'sport' thing for some decades, thus, the running bit.

Internationnaly, there is only one federation running both 'sports', but in France, at least, there are two different differations.

So Lyon is guilty of two major crimes against humanity.

1.  Boule Lyonnaise

2. Restaurants sell win in ,46l carafes, not .50l as all the rest of the world does.

really enjoying flag football, only watched morning session so far but 3 really close games including canada v u.s

the female commentator is really good, the male commentator is just reading from his generic phrasebook, just give her the mic and go have a lie down

Well, those sambo team competitions were one big flop

Most of the quarter finals cancelled, most of the fights in the medal matches didn't even happen due to injuries so we got like a 1-fight final

    • I used to think Johnston(e) - from some place John build (aka stone for building something hehe).   I'm not familiar if Scottish or Irish clans are named after such clan founder or a place?
    • i'm triggered,legitimately thought kennedy 2.0 happened,just way more out of nowhere
    • Perfectly obvious.    Johnson = son of John Johnston or Johnstone = From St John's Town ie Perth in Scotland.
    • Nope. Azu missed out by 0.01. Bromell lost silver by 0.001!
