I believe it is the same generic commentator that did dragon boat racing and the other sport where she messed up all kinds of basic things

It is unfortunate, kinda takes away some of the pleasure of watching when there's a commentator who has clearly just not prepared and isn't even aware of basic things like country codes (and not even tiny countries, KAZ and KSA, come on, when in doubt just look it up).

Well that’s not surprising. Like at all :p

Just now noticed that 'road inline skating' isn't really what I thought it was, but just...well, a track...that happens to have a road-like surface

I thought I was watching track inline skating the past two days, when they were skating on a track, turns out that was road. Roughly the same names in both I see, too bad there aren't really that interesting names from the world of speed skating - I've seen Fran Vanhoutte :BEL and Dan Guo :CHN and that's about it.

Honestly, it seems to me to be one of the few disciplines where many athletes didn't care and gave up participating. Italy came here without any senior athletes. I imagine that the main event was the World Skate Games

I wonder what the division is between sports where the best in the world compete and sports where they don't. Like, I know for certain korfball has the world's best at the Games. I don't know about floorball or inline hockey, but I guess it's the same there. Same in finswimming, I assume. While on the other hand, in for example kickboxing and muay thai, it is absolutely not the case. Most sports of course I have no idea about, so I am genuinely curious :p

For example, I'm watching the climbing, and I recognise all the main protagonists of the season and regular IFSC competitors. I'd say all the best are here

I saw only the qualifying results so far though and there seemed to be several missing names? For starters, I didn't see either world record holder (who are very much still active), I think?

    • this is not funny at all, pal
    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
