I’m guessing if Russia is banned the spot will go to the highest ranked unqualified team in the world ranking?

Not a bad idea. I am for, where can I sign ? why would only :FRA  & :USA have such privilege in Basketball ? we need something like that also in hockey a home friendly tournament for fun

Our chances are getting higher )) From 0.1% to 0.5% ))

I think the only really contested spot is the one from group F.

But all the teams will have to fight for rankings to get that last spot at the Olympics in case of scratching russia next year.

Well, I think we have the group of death as a nice reward for being first non-qualified thanks to :SUI being absolute unfair jerks... but, yeah, that´s now just history and we can not do anything about that anymore...

KAZ and AUT are teams which always brought us nightmares, Kazakhstan eliminated us in Nagano and this year they beat us fairly at the worlds... Austria for some reason play shit against everyone, but always when they play Slovakia they suddenly turn on some machines... and Hungary, well, it is Hungary our thanks to historical/political crap not really beloved southern neighbor and it apply from both sides, all games in all sports between us are real risk danger and almost military and police emergency...

So all in all, I am far from being calm and confident about our chances...+ unlike other groups where we can expect a couple of blowouts, this group is quite levelled and the scores will not be big so pretty sure if (RUS banned and the best 2nd team will replace them) I am persuaded it will not be the team from our group.

Group F is for me the most clear, Norway is absolutely horrible lately, because of financial troubles, they can not even send teams to interantional tournaments, and where they go, they receive only debacles, No, they are mentally down. GBR & JPN stand no chance, Denmark has literally like a free pass to the Olympics, and it is good. They deserve it.

Your group should be clear as well, Latvia will probably win it rather easily, but must be focused especially against France, if they will field all their best players, FRA can be a threat, Slovenia with plenty of veterans is not the Slovenia from Sochi/PyeongChang anymore, maybe a last dance chance for Kopitar but I do not see them beating Latvia. Ukraine will play certainly with pride and heart and such team can be always dangerous, but I am afraid it will not be enough at the end against the Latvian quality. Should be a qualification for the host without big troubles at the end.

You’re late, I already posted about it in the other thread :p

Petterson and Dahlin will probably be on the roster, remember it’s only the first 6 being announced.

Interesting if confirmed. The only question is: will another outstanding coach change anything in the game of the Italian national team? It`s crucial to return to the Elite before the 2026 Olympics.

    • Mia Blichfeldt is leaving Badminton Denmark's elite training program as she moves to France to live with her French boyfriend.   Denmark's representative in women's singles at the last two Olympics, Mia Blichfeldt, is leaving the national team training in Brøndby effective immediately.
    • Eden Park has always been (also) a cricket ground. They kept cricket in mind when they refurbished it for the 2011 RWC. It's hardly comparable with regular rectangle stadiums around the world.   And there are not many cities who would have a somewhat decent athletic stadium on top of their olympic stadium.   There are no way around it. Having cricket in the olympic program would be a major issue for many of the possible future hosts.
    • I'd say the very best, as soon as it's there, is to have the official qualifying document (generally in PDF format) in the first post, so you don't need to go to another place just for that.
    • In 2010 Asian Games, Olympic council of Asia included Dance Sports like Five Dances, Quickstep, Slow foxtrot, Tango, Waltz, Jive, Paso Doble, Samba, etc.
    • It was not, no     Although I do agree with everyone who says it's bullshit to add a sport for one Olympic cycle, whether that's karate, breaking or, I don't know, cycle ball. Give a sport a fair chance with 2-3 Olympic cycles, or don't add it at all, and bring back the option of an actual demonstration sport to try something out for a one-off thing.
    • I agree that some new sports deserve a chance. I really like skateboard, bmx, Mountainbike.  I didn’t like breakdancing, surfing.    difficult to say what the criteria are for selecting sports. Yes in some cases it’s political or economical. but doesn’t mean it’s wrong.    on the other hand some sports survive only for that reason. Take waterpolo, if it wasn’t for the power of WA it doesn’t really deserve a spot. I am Croatian  and very glad its there as it gave us few medals. But its popular and seriously played in only few European countries plus maybe US and Australia. Outside those few countries no one gives a f***.  so if popularity is only criteria @ChandlerMnethen waterpolo is for sure out.
    • naaa...in AUS they have sharks all around, also in the swimming pools, so they have to swim fast if they don't want to get caught
    • yes, you can!   provided it's a football stadium with the athletics track (it would only require minor adjustment, like a carpet to cover the track and make it a playable surface)    I remember that they also played a world cup semifinal at the Eden Park in Auckland, which is a rugby stadium with some space around the rugby lines
    • Of course I forgot the Australian swimmers 😂. Or is it because of Australian water that they are so good😉
