I'm pretty sure the number of daily tests must be limited for various reasons. Therefore, I don't think these percentages deserve much consideration.

The numbers are important especially as far they concern patients being recovered in hospitals, because if they start diminish, than the virus spread is losing strength. Two good points, however, do not make a trend. Once we reach 5 points, we could start thinking that we are on the right way. If by the end of the week numbers will not dramatically increase in South Italy, (meaning that we will have numbers as in the last weekend but evenly spread on the whole country instead that focused in Lombardia), in that case things will be on the right track

Its the only numbers that deserve consideration.

Not really. Tests are limited, so there is a limited number of new cases that can be confirmed daily.

Let's say one place tests 10k people daily, 8k of whom test positive. If there are 25k positive altogether, then 8k new cases is a big boost. But if there are 50k or 100k altogether, then 8k becomes more and more insignificant.

Basically, one number rises, while the other stays the same. Of course the percentages can only go down...

:POL Update:

We reached again a record about number of new cases... today our Ministry of Health confirms 115 new cases bring total number to 749 (more cases than on Diamond Princess ship) and number of deaths reach 8. And still we have only one confirmed case of total recovery.

1 new case confirmed this morning, since then we don´t have any new update. The crisis meeting started at 12:00 our time and is still not finished !!!

The new PM just announced the special meeting will continue tomorrow from 10:00 when they will announce some new updates. He just said the crisis meeting is working and considering 60 new measures and regulations !!! So this is the reason why they still not finished the special negoatiations, since they have to consider each one of them separately.

We obviously don´t know the measures so far, but there rumors about upgrading of the madatory wearing of masks, the obligatory wearing of masks will be mandatory apparently everywhere (until now it has been obligatory only in public transport vehicles, shops and offices, now people would have to wear masks also outdoors)

Also some rumors escaped that the supermarkets and all shops that still remains open will be open in a period of time for example from 12:00 to 14:00 everyday only for seniors above 65 years. All youger peoples will not be allowed to enter the stores at that time.

ofc thats just rumors from the journalists ! Nothing was officially confirmed by any member of the governement or the crisis staff, we should know the results and measures tomorrow during the evening after the crisis meeting will be finished.

So for now 186 Confirmed Cases in Slovakia (+1 Today (only Morning session tests counted))

Why did the thread title suddenly change to incorrectly suggest COVID-19 is the virus that causes the pandemic? Can't we at least keep the thread title fact-only? :d

Once this is over, I hope we'll never ever hear 'social distancing' again. I am getting so freaking tired of those two words

I'm also getting tired of people saying "he has Corona" and stuff like that. SARS-CoV-2 is a coronavirus, Corona is a beer, COVID-19 is a disease.

It's like people confusing HIV and AIDS. Media made a big mistake early on :p

And the thread title should either be something like "Coronavirus pandemic" or "COVID-19 pandemic", but not "COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic" :d

I thought Slovakia only had +7 yesterday and +1 today. :p

But still 60 new measures? Are we missing something?

    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
    • Belgium is the luckiest in this story
    • One of the worst possible draw for us. Group really easy but having to face  or  in the Round of 32 is devastating.
