yeah, but it's not that unusual...look at the 5000m result...the 3 medallists were close, then there's an abyss between 3rd and 4th and then the group just outside the medals is very thick and close once again...

 

sometimes performance sports can produce very weird results in terms of distribution of efforts...

The last time a Russian man skated a WR in the 1000m, it was 1:12.58 :d (Igor Zhelezovski, counting Soviet-Union instead of Belarus for Russia here)

and no WR in this race (even if the Dutch girl was really close to it)...

 

super-disappointing race by :USA Bowe and :JPN Kodaira...especially the American...

Wow, Jutta (pronounced 'Utah' basically) wins gold in Utah. Not the biggest fan in the world of these athletes who like themselves a little too much or at least come across like that, but she is a phenomenal rider :bowdown:
