Women's Volleyball CEV European Olympic Games Qualification Tournament 2020

Recommended Posts

Well, qualifying started today with a big surprise: Germany wins 3:1 against Turkey. Well, not a 'big' big surprise, because of the likes of Louisa Lippmann. She is a wonderful player and decided the match almost alone.

Netherlands struggled through the first match against :AZE , but eventually they won 3:0. Hopefully Sloetjes will find her form back, otherwise it will be difficult against the better opponents.

Hopefully not and the battle between two opposites of Scandicci (although one playing on left-wing in NT) will finish with white-red victory. ;)

Sloetjes won't be back in time, today she didn't play at all, because she was sick. But Meijners on her position was pretty good today! 3:0 against :BUL

Tomorrow the big clash against Poland!

Very important match against :NED and our girls wins it, good job :)

Poland played very impressive! For me they are now the biggest favourites to win this. Too much power and a wonderful setter.

But, don't count out Turkey.

Was the match really that important? I mean, it doesn't really matter, who'll qualify as first and who as runner up after all. But I can see that it might be another confidence boost for Poland, especially as Netherlands certainly didn't want to lose the match in front of the home crowd.

Excited for the semi finals tomorrow, I'll be there live to cheer the Dutch one step closer to the Olympics!

Have fun Jinzha!

I was there wednesday, when :NED played against :BUL . You have to cheer loudly, because half of the audience is only clapping their hands when the speaker says to do so. Very annoying to be among fake supporters.

It will be hard for Netherlands to grab that last Olympic ticket. All other semifinalists proved to be very strong.

    • (Men) withdrew from the qualifiers in Egypt due to the warning issued by the Department of State to US nationals in the middle east.    They had lost their first two games and were already eliminated anyway.
    • In yesterday matches, ,  and  qualified to the final tournament. Big surprise as Antigua and Barbuda defeated the Dominicans, and  defeated El Salvador 2-0 but they needed to win for atleast 3 goals so they are out. Big shoutout to Antigua and Barbuda and Jamaica who ended the group without receiving any goal.    In today's matches,  defeated  3-0 so they become the 10th team to enter the final tournament. In a couple of hours, we will have the final teams.    plays , both have 9 points but the goal difference is in favor of Haiti who is 14-0 (Curazao is 12-2). A draw benefits Haiti.   In the other match,  qualification is almost locked. Canada have 9 points and a 24-0 goal difference, and plays  who is runner-up with 6 points and 11-5 GD. This means, the only way for Nicaragua to qualify is to win by 10 goals or more.
    • Malena Zamfirova was hit by a drunk tourist today (not with a car), while she was preparing for the next World Cup in Czechia.  It happened in the so called "safe zone" near the lift, where there were a lot of people and this drunk just uncontrollably ran her. She had many fractures and had to be flown by helicopter. Tomorrow she is moving to Austria with a special transport, where on Friday she is having a surgery. I am fuming
