Burkina Faso would have had a very serious chance to qualify for 2022 or 2026 WC if they play their matches home , but i will not surprised if they qualified over us to 2026

What is the reason :BUR is not playing at home btw ? It is not like they don´t have eligible stadium, I remember many matches were played there with great atmosphere. (One our most famous youtuber made a trip there and was quite excited :d, I put the video in the spoiler) Is this because of Politics, or the venue was for some reason abandoned/dismantled ?

Spoiler

CAF stated that their stadiums didn't meet required criteria thus they were banned from hosting matches , they are a very good team and have been a force in CAN from 2013 till now they deserve to be in WC even if on back of us I don't care, we don't do anything when we qualify anyway 😂

How that ??? What exactly is not sufficient ? In the video the stadium looks more than fine to me :yikes:, even in Slovakia I swear half of our top league clubs have much worse venues ...

I'd guess capacity, quality of pitch or maybe some details that aren't so visible to spectators like changing rooms, access security, VIP areas and such.

yep, probably you´re right. Still shame, they look really loving football and their team, wish they will fix the "details" soon to return home infront of their home fans

Damn, the football part of that video is chilling, in the most positive possible meaning (as in, giving chills) :d

That atmosphere is magical, it kind of reminds me of the athletics youth (junior?) world championships in Nairobi a few years ago where the entire stadium was shaking on it's foundations almost every day

I believe the Tour of Burkina Faso has similar kinds of enthousiasm levels as you see in the video (probably spread from Rwanda which is the most insanely awesome country in the world for cycling atmosphere) :p

I hope they can play their home matches at home again soon.

Nigeria tied with Lesotho at home 1-1 :yikes: this Nigerian team never changes .

Egypt defeated Djibouti 6-0 where Salah scored 4 goals , Algeria defeated Somalia 3-1 only

this round of AFC qualifiers is quite predictable. we almost already know which 18 teams will advance. there are only 2 or 3 questions remain

India scored a big big win in Kuwait, probably the only real surprise of the day. Syria also beat PRK

Iran started with a 4-0 win against HKG, it's still very hard for me to cheer for this Iran team because I genuinely hate the head coach, he is a kind of mafia boss

    • How wonderful!   I met the national rowing (and beach rowing) coach of EST/LTU/LAT on the way to ice hockey one day, who's Canadian by the way. I also flew home on the same flight as JC Schoonmaker's mom and friends, so we chatted for a bit.
    • Yea I only used transit besides this Uber / bus to the airport and back. All the venues were at the end of the line, so it allowed you to speak with other fans/volunteers etc. I even met Corrine Stoddard's mom after the first session of short track on the way back, and told her to remember our conversation if she won a medal later in the Olympics. We know how that ended up...
    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
    • I tried to get onto the metro multiple times and gave up    I had just arrived the day of from Bangkok (12 hr flight) and was just exhausted and wanted to sleep
    • Plus, you missed out on a potential metro ride with me, which is quite priceless in my opinion
    • My hotel was very close to Rho so was easy to get there, but it was so far from the hockey venue that after the women's gold medal match it was so expensive to get back, and also the next day after the usa slovakia semis it took forever, the asshole driver took the city and not the freeway
    • Uber cost me $224 CAD to get back to the hotel from the OC. It basically prevented me from buying tickets to a speed skating session
    • Romania's national team coach, Mircea Lucescu, has died half an hour ago He was in hospital since March 30th, just before the friendly match against Slovakia. Unbelievable how the life can have such turns...in March 26th he was in Istanbul playing the WC qualifying play-off vs Turkiye and now he died.    Thank you very much for every moments you bring us in your huge career (he's on 3rd place in a most trophies won in career, after Ferguson and Guardiola) and may your soul rest in peace, Mr. Lucescu.
