Very nice result on day 1 of the european U20 championships from a german perspective:

13.13 in women's 100 m hurdles by Rosina Schneider

Fastest time by a german U20 athlete since 1986.

I am officially a fan of Mitrovic from Serbia. She could be a star (at least in Serbia, triple jump probably isn't important enough for her to become famous globally).

Best performances of the first two days at the european U20 championships:

13.12 s by Enzo Diessl in men's 110 m hurdles, 9th on the all-time list

8.23 m by Mattia Furlani in men's long jump, 13th on the all-time list

8.22 m by Bozhidar Saraboyukov in men's long jump, 14th on the all-time list

66.68 m by Mykhailo Brudin in men's discus throw, 14th on the all-time list

17.97 m by Nino Chioma Ndubuisi in women's shot put, 37th on the all-time list

13.06 s by Rosina Schneider in women's 100 m hurdles, 42nd on the all-time list

 

Sadly so far no world/european U20 records were broken, but the following championship records were broken:

Women's 100 m hurdles: 13.06 s by Rosina Schneider, previous record was 13.09 s by Olena Ovcharova from 1995

Men's long jump: 8.23 m by Mattia Furlani, previous record was 8.17 m by Vladimir Ochkan from 1987

It's nice to see a collective improvement from  at the U20 championships.

 

In 2021 we had Mykolas Alekna win a gold medal in discus.

 

This year, we have a final in the men's 100m and 400m as well as finals in women's pole vault, triple jump, discus throw and javelin.

 

It is the first time ever that we have a pole vaulter in U20, she was also the first U18 pole vaulter to represent Lithuania as well. So she is rewriting Lithuanian sports history with her career.

 

Adas Dambrauskas broke the Lithuanian U20 NR in 100m.

 

Orinta Navikaitė (qualified to Javelin final), Aurėja Beniušytė (finished 11th in Triple Jump) and Justė Perveneckaitė (finished 10th in Race Walk) are all very exhausted after having an EYOF run, but they are youth national record holders in their own right. 

 

And Sutkus, that will run his 400m final in an hour is also responsible for the Lithuanian U20 NR.

 

So really, a talented batch of youngsters for us here.

What's even more disappointing is that the Polish athlete in bronze ran out of his lane, but apparently there was a rule change, where you're allowed to do that once now. That is why there are additional marks near Szwed's name in the protocol.
