BMX FREESTYLE

Can japan and the usa get a second quota on these worlds? THANKS

BMX Freestyle is probably the worst qualification process for Paris 2024. The short answer is probably yes they could but you wont actually know until after the completion of next year's OQS.

The quotas from the world champs are the lowest priority and can be used to ensure continental representation so the chances are that the people who finish on the podium, wont actually be the ones who are awarded the quotas :wall:

Yeah, if I understand the rules correctly, :RSA will win a quota by default as the only African nation competing. That rule goes out of the window in the women's event as there aren't any African athletes competing.

do I Understand correctly that same athlete. can win two quotes for one NOC?

For example the Japanese WCH in 2022 and now 4th here could gain two Quota for Japan?

What happens if he ends up also in the top 6 next year in the Qualifiers series.

all so confusing.

And yes the only safe quota is South Africa

:AUS :USA :GBR Quota Men's ?????

Maybe - but maybe not. :d Would say they have provisional quotas - these results have lowest priority for quota and will instead be used to deliver continental representation but we wont know until after the completion of OQS. If I had to guess, would think that the American may lose out.

Yep, they are effectively the 10-12th ranked quotas of the twelve for Paris. However, the USA will almost certainly lose its quota to an African NOC. The chances that all the other five continents will be represented among the six qualifiers from next year's qualifying series are slim so the others are also at risk. For the moment though they have the quotas.

Any NOC quotas that have to be allocated to ensure representation from every continent will come from placings at the 2022 WC rather than this year's.

    • It may also be that Ceccerelli saw that the conditions in the Italian youth teams were very poor and that is why she insisted on setting up her own team (the results of young Italian skiers unfortunately confirm this). A private team will always be better than a team with 10-12 skiers with max. 3-4 coaches, a one doctor and a physiotherapist. Colturi is the only skier in her team and she has several coaches, a masseur, a doctor etc. Of course, it costs money, but since the parents are famous and have money + Red Bull got involved. I don't understand why she can't start for Italy again? Red Bull should care more that Colturi starts in Cortina under the Italian flag than the Albanian one + Red Bull, as a brand, always has a bigger sales market in Italy with a population of 60 million than in small Albania. I hope that this can still be reversed by next year. For this we need talks between the federation + Colturi's parents + Red Bull + possibly the Italian Olympic Committee. Colturi may be a skier equal to Brignone or even better in the future. We can't lose her, so we have to do now!
    • I`m very disappointed with this weekend. Only becouse of Ghiotto form I`m happy. Unfortunately, the women's team will not function well if Lollobrigida skips most of the training camps and Fontana starts alternately in short tack and long track. It will end with her not winning any medals here or there, because it`s already clear that it will be very difficult to achieve good results in long track. I hope that she understands this, because in short track she has a real chance of winning medals in the women's relay and the mixed relay but in long track not.
    • Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.
    • men advanced to Division A for the first time since 2018 (when they went 1-8). Don't expect much progress next year
    • Ok, but there we are talking about a person who has parents from different countries. Colturi has nothing to do with Albania.
    • There are few people here from Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Finland.
    • The worst editions in XXI century for us were Vancouver: 5 medals (only 1 gold for Razzoli's on the penultimate day) and Sochi: 8 medals (but no gold). Turin was already a prelude to this bad period, although the number of gold medals was ok. Overall we won fewer medals at home than in 2002 and this was probably the only case in the 21st century when the host country won fewer medals at home than 4 years earlier, either in summer or winter. In general the years 2008-2016 were very bad in our sport, both in summer and winter. Only 2018 in Korea was a slight rebuild + 2 fantastic summer editions in Tokyo and Paris. in Beijing 2022 we won a lot of medals - 17 but only 2 gold (If it weren't for Gogga's injury, I think it would have been 4 gold).
    • Totallympics had  users at one point, but I haven't seen any hanging around in a while.
    • In terms of total medals, yes. In terms of golds, I’d be fine with anywhere from 6-8.   @intoronto you don’t think we’ll do better or at least the same? Bit surprising.
    • Tadeucci was very good and took bronze
