Sad news today as the Rio velodrome was hit by balloons and the roof was partially destroyed by a fire.

 

Obviously it's a crime to launch these kinds of balloons and I hope they catch those responsible.

Has the Sambodrome beeing used by any sporting event since the Olympics ?

 

OT: I think we should have a Rio legacy thread that covers the good, the bad and the ugly whithout rose or doom & gloom tinted glasses

I don't think it will ever host sport events again because that's not the purpose of the Sambodrome - which, I guess, was simply picked for Archery/Marathon for being the "home of Carnival".

 

Good idea, but people are already posting things here from time to time.

Yeah, I guess, there is not so much you can do with it sportswize.

Yes, but that's the same problem with the other general threads here, someone which is only interested in the legacy issue might not click on a general thread about Rio Games.

 

Besides, we could have a nice recap of every venues and what they become (yeah, that's a bit of  work)
