The western conspiracy thing again? Ok, I'm just gonna wait for the football to start then

The Russian behaviour inside the stadium (not the fans, but the criminals....the fans behave normal) was quite obviously worse than that of any other nation so far. Horrible that Russia will host the next world cup. Especially when there's idiotic politicians saying what those criminals did is good.

The problem is that it's hard to penalize the country for what some fools do in the streets. It's something else when it's done in the stadium.

And yes, many others have done bad things (not irish supporters though (I believe you're talking about the Northern Irish)), but unlike Russia, it has at once been condemned. In Russia there are politicians talking about the hooligans defending Russia's honour (including a member of the executive board of the Russian football association). It's not us destroying their reputition, they do themselves, when they apparently think hooligans are a part of the game!

And no, the players have nothing to do with them, and it would without doubt be sad if they were not to keep on playing because of some fools, but sadly something has to be done.

Where is the responsibility of the organizers when trouble occurs in the stadium? Very very poorly organized tournament. They put England to play in Marseille, they are totaly misinformed on the bunch of hooligans who are in France now. Russians, English, Polish, Germans, locals, many others, all strong hooligan subculture countries and France is behaving like they don't know anything about this. Yes, russians did start a fight inside the stadium, but why UEFA's policies are only concerning inside stadium and not outside trouble. It's stupid, you could kill someone outside and not get punished and light up a flare inside and get punished. If they are serious about confronting hooliganism, they would issue a zero tolerance policy against it and discipline every action inside and outside the ground, that would send a message. But for UEFA it's perfectly fine to see streets and towns completely destroyed as long as  their little show on the stadium for their rich partners and sponsors without true fans because tickets are expensive is without problems. Bunch of hypocrites!

    • Of the top teams the world with traditions, only Portugal didn`t play in 3 World Cups in a row: 1986-2002 (1990, 1994 and 1998), but then fewer teams played in the World Cup than now. I don't really remember what caused the crisis in Portuguese football in the 1990s or how it was done with this later? Perhaps we should follow their example?
    • Well... If not qualifying for the World Cup for the third consecutive time isn't enough to bring about change in Italy, I can't imagine what will be.
    • Gravina is simply stupid and probably has some kind of hold over other important key figures in Italian football, since he was elected in 2024 with a majority of over 90% of the votes... I have a hard time imagining it any other way. Compared to him, even Carraro, Berlusconi and Moggi seem like nice and kind gentlemens   Some people believe that Calciopoli in 2006 began the decline of Italian football and that may be true. It only got worse from there, not counting a single accidental Euro 2021 win- something similar to Greece in 2004. In 2009 Roberto Baggio prepared a 900-page report on necessary reforms in Italian football, but the then-FIGC board tossed it into the trash bin. Now we see the consequences...
    • I thought our former football President was greedy, selfish, power hungry and delusional, but apparently he has an equal counterpart in Gravina. Some people just lack common decency.
    • Well, it's possible that Italians may be more bitter towards short track officials after the robbery they perpetrated against Sighel at the Olympics and therefore more willing to comment and criticize them, but it doesn't make the decision any less ridiculous.   Also, the fact we are Italians, and therefore used to the low standards of football refereeing, makes us especially qualified and trained to identify biased/crooked/incompetent judging
    • I think it was never in the history of our sport has there been anyone as brazen and stupid as Gravina. Before presidents would resign, or at least hide for a while, rather than go into a full-blow scandalous attitude with full larrogance and pride. I hope this idiot gets fired anyway, even if he doesn't resign.
