We should really do a prediction contest (an official forum one) for the 4 Hills Tournament one of these days :d

With way more than just a top-3 though. I'd go for a whole host of questions.

Maybe: Who will jump the furthest? (At each hill), What’s the worst wind someone will deal with?, Who will get the highest single jump score?, etc.

Who will be the highest placed athlete from Norway/Austria/Germany/any non-traditional country (like X, Y, Z)? Who will have the best worst result? How many athletes will reach all four final rounds? What's the highest final Four Hills Tournament position anyone who missed a round will have?

Something like 24 hours before the start of the new season in Wisla. Let´s start with a small quick preview

This time we will have 36 races, including the prestigeous 4 Hills Tournaments in Germany and Austria during the new years holidays period. The whole world cup 2019/20 edition will finish in Vikersund 14th and 15th March, one week later Planica will host the Ski Flying World Championships (20.-22. March) to close the whole season.

Ryoyu Kobayashi will enter the season as the big globe defender and will try to be the only second ski jumper in history to win the world cup back to back two years in a row after the legendary finn Janne Ahonen. To achieve that the japanese will need to get as close as possible to his previous season´s shape which he completely dominated. He confirmed his dominance of the season also by winning all 4 hills tournament races (After Sven Hannawald and Kamil Stoch only the third jumper in history with this perfect record)

The Austrian Stefan Kraft, who finished second in the last season, should be one of the most serious opponents of the Japanese in the overall ranking. + Traditionally the strong Poles, Norwegians and German ski jumpers willl be certainly the other world cup big globe contenders.

The Germans under the austrian coach Stefan Horngacher will have anyway to miss this whole season their PC 2018 Normal Hill Olympic champion Andreas Wellinger due knee injury but are waiting for the return of Severin Freund from last years major injuries, his come back is expected already this december.

What happened to that promising Finnish athlete from last season?

Do you mean Aalto? If you do, then he was injured in the beginning of November.

    • Does the CAS have the authority to address from someone who believes the judges made a mistake in a given discipline? Pizzolato's last attempt at Paris 2024, which earned him the bronze medal, was controversial, but what does the CAS have to do with it? Even if the judges made a mistake then, the result won't change and this isn't the only case where someone feels wronged with this in world of sports. Unless, of course, they have some evidence of corruption or something like that
    • If Pizzolato will to return, would it be to the 86 kg category, or the 94 kg category, like Nasar? In 2024, they were both in the 89 kg category, which will no longer be at the Olympics, but in 2021 in Tokyo, Pizzolato won a medal in the 81 kg category.   Of course, it's unclear what's going on with the rape accusations- personally, unfortunately, I don't think he was ever a sweet angel- he was accused of other immoral things also 10 years ago, but gang rape? I find that hard to believe... Besides, Moldova has appealed about his bronze medal from Paris 2024 to the CAS- the verdict was supposed to be in February. Do you know anything about this? Did they have any grounds for this lawsuit at all?
    • Ukraine won 6 gold medals out of 10 in the women's competotion  + 1 silver and 1 bronze. Where do they get these girls from? It's always been a strong country, but they have never dominated like this. I wonder if their training methods would work in another country and if their coaches have any offerts to job from other countries? However, there is a significant decline in women's judo in Ukraine, so maybe they have directed all their resources and money towards wrestling?   In fact, Ukraine dominates Europe as much as Japan does the world- they have the best school in women's wrestling. In 2024, Ukraine only won 1 silver medal at the Paris Olympics? So even domination in Europe doesn't guarantee even 1 gold medal at the Olympics. Although, of course, if Italy for example, can't even win 1 bronze medal at the European Championships, then there's no point in even going to the World Championships...
    • Sablikova started on the road cycling and just almost qualified for Rio 2016. Maybe Lollobrigida would like to join the Italian track team? She has the good character and 2 medals at the Olympics, one in winter and one in summer, would be a legendary achievement, not only in Italy.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martina_Sáblíková
    • One Wiebes is worth more than the all Italian team with Balsamo/Fidanza, etc., that much clear. Even if the Netherlands loses its dominance in the men's sprint, Wiebes will win 2-3 gold medals in other events. Just relax, man.
    • I'm most worried about our women's team in the pursuit – we have a reserve squad, but not advancing to the top 8 is a shame. We recently competed with out 1 team and had not good in 1 round. It doesn't look good. And the Netherlands are already taking Wiebes to the track team and will soon dominate the Madison/Omnium as well. Balsamo and Paternoster haven't made any progress for years and the our women's team at the Olympics has little chance to win a medal. Italy might even win World Championship/European Championship gold in the years after the Olympics, etc., but when the real fight comes, the UK or the USA will always beat us
    • Track cycling is one of the few sports where there is no host nation quota, so  will need to work hard to achieve our quotas.  It's not our best sport, but was happy to see Top 10 results in the Elimination Race for Grant Koontz and Emma Jimenez Palos (who is just 18!).
    • Yes, I saw the same thing you did @clemsonbeav (on both accounts) but I agree it looks pretty stock.
