This Kasai kid seems like a talented one, curious how he'll do!

Not that talented, it seems. :p He will most likely not qualify for Sunday's competition. At least he's still young, so there is hope, right?

Running late today because they underestimated the time the practice rounds would take. :wall:

This never happened when Walter Hofer was in charge, one event after his retirement & it’s already a disaster. :water:

It would only be the 4th time or so when he seems to be done for a year or two and then comes back again :p

Ooops, thought he retired last year.

Sandro Pertile is his 'assistant' this year (I think they're both TD now, but one has to be called assistant, so there you go), and takes over when Hofer retires after the season-closing ski flying world championships in Planica.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
