Equestrian FEI Jumping Group F Olympic Games Qualifier 2019

Recommended Posts

Six nations will take part - :EGY:JOR:MAR:QAT:KSA:UAE

Egyptians are the favorites, while everyone else (except maybe Jordan) will battle for the second quota. My prediction is Egypt and Qatar.

I don't see us as the favorites here,  we did really bad in African Games and World Olympic qualifiers,  Morocco were almost perfect in African Games at home soil,  Qataris have the best horses, Saudis know how to qualify we could even end up in non qualification position

Not really. African Games are basically irrelevant, and it was always Egyptian team's strategy to send reserve horses to Nations Cup (and spare the best for Rabat).

Egypt is a HUGE favorite given their current rider and horse power.

Yeah, it would take a lot of bad luck for Egypt to not finish in the top 2. Of course, crazier things have happened.

So we actually 14 nations competing, and only 6 of them being from Group F.

I think only 8 will get to start in the second round, so qualification could be decided early, especially considering how poor Saudi Arabia and Jordan have started...

First round results

:EGY 1

:QAT 10

:MAR 13

:JOR 20

:UAE 21

:KSA 21

Apparently every Group F team will be allowed to start in the second round, even if they are outside of Top 8. Good thing FEI is not as stupid as FIBA and UEFA.

Egyptians just need to show up basically.

    • Yep, the amount of emergency services I heard at some point was a little extreme (for our little town), so I checked what was going on and saw they were all being called to a specific location. Until then I thought maybe it was part of a parade of trucks and agricultural vehicles that was on it's way from the next town over, decorated with lights and stuff.   Since I knew it was on the parade route, I was sure one of those big vehicles had hit people somehow (there were, besides the many vehicles, also two helicopters on the way, meaning it certainly wasn't about a single victim).   We picked our bikes and went to take a look, absolutely chaos in the area. Never saw so many services combined together, fire trucks from 20km away, ambulance after ambulance came racing by, people frantically trying to make way for them (the roads weren't really closed yet).   While there we heard someone who had been close say that the parade hadn't arrived yet and what seemed to have happened was that a car from the other side came onto the roundabout and simply never turned. "It's a massive drama over there, unbelievable", he said.   Quite quickly rumours started spreading of course, the first one turned out to be true: a middle aged (local) woman was behind the wheel and seems to have become unwell. Local security camera showed the car going at high speed right before the roundabout.   Plenty of rumours going around in terms of who were involved of course, and people keeping each other up to date to see if they know this or that family and such...   Never expected my little town to be big news in the Netherlands, even including some breaking broadcasts, live reporters and everything, damn. By far the biggest thing to happen here in my memory

    • For me, these were very good Olympics, and British sport benefited greatly from them, and is still benefiting. I fear it will be much worse here. Canada also benefited very good on Vancouver 2010 – this is very good see in the medal standings of subsequent Winter Games after 2010 and earlier.
    • Nobody hates Britain more than the British media so… I recall it being quite a pessimistic tone before the London games started.
    • I'm curious what was written before London 2012? Did they attack their own country, or did they just keep quiet?

    • Very true point.  Although I think at this point everyone is just holding their collective breath until the test event.  The NHL isn't going to rage anymore until then because it's not like that would make the arena progress go any quicker
