Brazil will be the champions.

After winning their first 2 games Egypt lost 7 in a row :yikes: even lost to Tunisia.

Japan are great but it's not a surprise to me since they are taking the cup very seriously.

And in the middle there are 5 teams tied with record 4-5. I think our team will probably finish 5th, which is a lot better than I expected.

That rally from today's  :POL vs :BRA game captures exactly why I love this sport :bowdown::bowdown: Hands down one of the best defensive plays I have ever seen in volleyball

With today's win over Japan, Brazil wins the Gold Medal of the World Cup :thumbup:Poland and United States will most likely fight for the 2nd/3rd place, and Japan will take the  4th one.

@Dunadan Canada about to lose their 6th place in world ranking if they don't win the last match, right?

Yes, that's right...and they would send Argentina to group B at the Olympics.

(and hopefully Iran won't beat Poland 3-2, otherwise Italy could join that group as well)

I can bet my everything that's not going to happen. :d this Iran can't beat anybody , they just want to finish the tournament and go to their clubs. Iran only won few matches when they played with reserved players.

do we already know the Olympic groups ? still the serpantine system like this ?

Group A) H, 3, 4, 7, 8, 11

Group B) 1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10

I assume 11 will be CHI/VEN

so far I can say the only sure thing is BRA=1, USA=2, POL=3

I think everybody wants Group A, right ? Iran (if qualifies) will be in Group A for sure.

Not 100% sure. If Iran finish this world cup 9th place, you'll lose 20 points and France can overtake that place in the ranking.

If that happens and Canada and France also qualify, then Iran goes to group B.

I think that stronger teams want to play in stronger group cause that means easier opponent in quarter final ;)

    • Canoe Sprint There is a now a cap of 5 athletes per gender in the kayak events (down from 6 in 2024). The World Championships has been replaced by the Olympic Qualification Rankings.   K2 lost 2 boat quotas while K4 has gained 1 boat quota. Quota distribution is quite complicated as it usually is for canoe sprint. They also force nations to compete in a minimum number of events based on the number of athletes qualified; 2 and 3 athletes per boat class must compete in 2 events, 4 must compete in all 3 events and 5 must compete in all 3 events and have two entries in the K1 event.
    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA
