Isn't it usually live streamed on Facebook or something? That's such a shitty platform for live streams, it should be on the video.fil-luge.org platform or YouTube.

yes, it's streamed on the FIL website, too...but still on that sh*tty platform (I think it's a facebook page)...

however, Red Bull also distributes a comprehensive recap show for various TV network (I saw that on Austrian TV -of course- but also on Nova Sport Czech/Slovak)...

I don't know how many other Nations have a network showing that staff...:mumble:

Is there any source about this NTL2026 thing? Like a link I could link to in other places? :p

no, the news was reported in a more general sports news article on the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, as the author was talking of the usual political fight between our NOC and our government (which also involves our relationship with the IOC because of that sh*tty law that takes the control of the italian sport out of our NOC)...

there's nothing specific about NTL and Milano-Cortina 2026, it was written as a side note...

it's a bit more than a rumor...

the author is a true NOC insider...if he writes they have started the official burocratic tasks it means that they have moved on from the "rumor" status...

of course there's still quite a long way to do and in particular we still have to wait for the IOC decision, but given the low cost and the fact that they gave China the mixed team Aerials event only to win a safe Gold, I'm pretty much convinced that this time they will give us the NTL chance (unlike in 2006)...

Actually Flavio Roda, the president of FISI - Italian Winter Sports Federation said that "as a federation we have submitted an application to the IOC in order to have natural track luge as an Olympic discipline in 2026"

https://www.fisi.org/slittino-pista-naturale/news/20646-il-presidente-flavio-roda-in-val-passiria-per-la-tappa-di-cdm-uno-sport-che-mi-affascina-lavoriamo-per-farlo-diventare-disciplina-olimpica

so unless he's lying they've started taking the first official step- if this application will be taken into consideration by the IOC or not is another matter.

Yeah, if IOC approves natural track luge, then we have a conclusive proof that they will do just about anything to keep the hosts happy and boost their medal count.

Watch out for MMA in 2028 and pencak silat whenever Indonesia hosts it. I mean, even pencak silat is not nearly as exclusive as natural track luge - 23 nations have won medals at WCh level.

Luge & bobsleigh track is the single most expensive and most useless thing required for the Olympics. The old Cortina track is basically ruined anyway, right?

It's in IOC interest for the host nation to have a successful Games to boost the attendance and other such stuff.

Since when national federations are asking themselves for new sports/disciplines to be included in the olympics ?...

To be fair, when it's about natural track luge I guess we can count FISI pretty much as the entire world

yeah, but the original "skeleton" it's still there and the costs to have a good make-up and make it again the best and most difficult track on the sliding sports circuit are not as high as building a new track...

they started with a reasonably low budget and even if they said it would take a bit more money, I don't think the total costs would eventually raise up to immoral level...

and they also signed a document to keep it working full time for at least 25 more years after the Olympics...

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
