Road royalty named in long-list squads for road and para-road world championships (britishcycling.org.uk)

British Cycling have announced their initial long list of riders for the road races in Glasgow and whilst there are no major surprises on the women's side, for the men, there are perhaps a couple of interesting selection decisions as there is no place for either of the Yates brothers. Mark Cavendish is included, but given his injury at the Tour de France, that's got to be unlikely. Tao Geoghan Hart looks like he is continuing recovery after injury in the Giro and has also not made the cut.

The final squad will be announced closer to the event but at most, only 4 of the top 8 GBR riders based on current ranking will make the squad and that could impact :GBR hopes of top 5 world ranking for full squad going to Paris.

So one last farewell at the end. Nobody know how, but our federation succeeded to convince Peter Sagan for one last dance on the road. And he will end his career just like he started, alone... since SVK did qualify only 1 spot for the road race...

I though Sagan was targeting the MTB at Paris? Given Slovakia aren't exactly close to getting a spot through the rankings, his best route may have been to focus on MTB at Glasgow.

At the end :SVK will have 2 riders in the M Road Race.

:SVK federation announced today, we apparently received a reallocation (?) and thus Matúš Štoček will help Peter Sagan in the Glasgow roads

Yeah, to the surprise of absolutely nobody....sadly. It is always the same with big events in the UK. Every. Single. Time.

In 2025, Rwanda really should deny all British riders entry. Sucks for the riders, but that's too bad, the Brits are keeping a load of Africans out of big events time and time again. Mind you, these are not 'potential refugees' (whatever that would be), but most are well-established pro riders, especially Girmay or Kudus.

And as always, UCI does nothing about it. They are as incompetent as one can be in these cases, which of course is already shown by the mere fact the UK got this event in the first place (meaning everybody knew people like the Eritreans were fucked).

Right, some updates: Girmay is reported to have a visa, but won't race because of an injury of last week's Donostia Klasikoa. Berhane has a visa and will race Sunday. Tesfatsion has a visa, but will not race due to a knee injury. Mulubrhan's situation is not yet clear.
