This took some months after the main problems started....Won the Tour de l'Avenir in 2014, yet only Astana wanted him (because the rest didn't trust him and obviously Astana is a team that doesn't care about such minor issues).  When arriving in Europe, he was placed at the home of Spanish former rider Vicente Belda...who had been a known doper and as a team manager was involved in the Operacion Puerto case, plus who is seen as a big figure in a Spanish criminal investigation (with ties to medicine and doping distribution, surprisingly), with doctor Marco Maynar Mariño named as the main guy. Mariño, who Miguel Angel Lopez was was connected with several months ago (leading to Lopez even being in trouble with Spanish police for a bit).

 

In this time, Lopez used to train with Vicente's son David Belda. Well, until David got caught with EPO, that is. Luckily for him he managed to evade problems by riding for small and not so well controlled Team Medellin back home in Colomba before all this  

 

But other than all that, super surprising!

Wonder if he might face some legal issues as well: “Ostarine has similar effects to testosterone and is not approved for human consumption in any country.”

I believe they could still retest a sample if one was taken then. @Dragon knows more about those policies I think.

Would be good, but also I wouldn't be surprised if he started doping in the past years, in which he has been nearly entirely invisible. Wouldn't be the first former top-level performer who gets desperate when it doesn't work anymore.

Reckon so - they always keep samples back given that new tests are always being invented.  But it’s a tough one because he did not do anything really extraordinary in 2016, he won just by hitting his targets first time not third.

Dopers don't always do extraordinary things though

Seems to be quite rare that a doper fails a test in the current day and then fails a retest as well.

Alexandra Agiurgiuculese disqualified for 12 months for a missed test. She forget to update their position when she was in an international competition in Portugal.
