Confirmed :ARG team for world champs: Andrea Berrino, Macarena Ceballos, Florencia Perotti and Guido Buscaglia. Not even enough swimmers to have a relay :p The main goal of course are the Pan American Games, but Ceballos is having a nice season so maybe she can qualify to a semi, but not expecting anything tbh.

Milák won't swim in the freestyle events. Both Milák and the Hungarian national coach seem rather negative about how his training for the WCh is going. Don't expect amazing times from Milák this year, something seems off. Hopefully the gold medal(s) in fly aren't in danger, we will see.

Milák gave an interview yesterday where he very openly said that he's getting tired of the mundanity of swimming training. He is simply not capable to train as hard as he used to when he was younger.

These are probably early signs that Milák will retire in 2028, maybe even sooner.

And it just got worse...

:HUN Milák won't be at the World Championships, he will skip the entire event

He said that he doesn't feel prepared for the event, both mentally and physically. Something went very wrong this year with his training.

Probably the worst news we could have received one year before Paris. It will be very hard for him to return to the same top level. One or maybe two gold medals for Hungary gone. He's the MVP of the entire Hungarian Olympic team, he's our star athlete, so as you can imagine this won't go down well in Hungary.

Btw, I think it's safe to say that this will be the first World Championships since 2007 where :HUN won't win any swimming gold medals. We might actually not win any medals in the pool without Milák. This might become a very depressing time for Hungarian swimming, our only hope is Hubert Kós.

Had to happen at some point. Hungary producing one star after an other (Egerszegi, Cseh, Gyurta, Hosszu, Kapas, Milak) was very impressive while it lasted. Kos could win gold or maybe even miss the final. The men’s 200 back seems very open this year (Especially looking at the absence of the Russians, Greenbank and Edwards-Smith) and easily looks like the weakest event on the men’s side. There are a lot of guys who could take gold if they step up at the right time. I thought that Ndoye-Brouard would do it, but he has been underwhelming this year so far. Kos training under Bowman probably means that you have to trust him as much as anybody to step up at worlds. Going forward I am not sure where Hungary will find new medal contenders. Their biggest talents seem to be on the women’s side (Padar, Mihalyvari-Farkas, Jackl), but unfortunately for them the level on the women’s side is very strong and not many European women are currently able to fight for medals.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

    • thats true. If anyone observes the US election map then he can see that Harris dominated in NorthEast states and the Eastern Coast, exactly where the big economic centres are based (New York, New Jersey, Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco etc).   Also what i observe regarding politics in western europe is that Socialdemocratic/centre-left parties have become extremely pro-market and even neo-liberal and some traditional right parties have become euroscepticist and protectionist, exactly the opposite as it was in 70s-80s

    • Yeah, Trump is very pro-Olympics. I imagine he's pretty excited that he will get to open the games   Visas for some nations have always been tough and I do imagine some qualified individuals will fail to enter the United States (regardless who is President), but the IOC will likely sweep it under the rug.
