:USA Shaun White

SNOWBOARD

Shaun White is, undoubtedly, one of the world's most prolific snowboarders. Between 2003-2013, he won 13 Winter X Games titles in Snowboarding slopestyle and superpipe (Olympic half-pipe), which included achieving a perfect 100 in 2012. Additionally, White became the first athlete to medal at both Summer and Winter X Games, as he also won titles in 2007 and 2011 in vert Skateboarding. He competed across five Winter Olympics (2006-2022), where he became the first snowboarder to win three Olympic gold medals. He accomplished this feat in the men's half-pipe in 2006, 2010 and 2018. Retired after a fourth-place finish in Beijing 2022, White has left a legacy for a whole new generation of snowboarders, earning a place at the Totallympics Hall of Fame.

For women's team, Serbia, Canada and England were virtually tied at some point, but the last 10 voters really solidified Serbia's win here.

:USA Serena Williams

TENNIS

Often referred to as the greatest women's tennis player ever, Serena Williams' "evolving away from tennis" announcement made her career and overall contributions to sport a particularly standout story in 2022 despite a lack of on-court success. Having debuted on the WTA Tour in 1995, Williams reached the world number 1 ranking in the summer of 2002, a position she occupied a remarkable 317 times overall. Williams' 23 career Grand Slam singles titles is second all-time, and she has 14 Grand Slam doubles titles, to boot. As an Olympian, Williams certainly made her mark, earning four gold medals across four Summer Games, and tying her sister Venus with the most Olympic tennis gold in history. William's mark has been felt off-the-field as well, as a fashion icon, mother, and business woman who has moved onto society and financial pages, remaining a role model for how to crossover successfully beyond sports.
