The Middle East qualifier is this weekend. Two of :JOR :KSA :SYR :UAE will qualify to the final where the final Olympic team quota will be available. Assuming no major upsets in the Olympic Group qualifiers, the Middle East qualifiers could have a decent chance at grabbing the quota (assuming both don't qualify at the Group F qualifiers)

:JPN will not participate in the Final, so if :NZL refuses, then :ITA would replace them, right?

:JPN and :NZL refuse 2nd spot for Asia/Australasia! ->->-> repechage for :ITA !!! It's another chance for Olympic quota! (Isn't it?)

Italy should qualify at the European Jumping Championships, but should they fail they would be the heavy favourite for the 2023 Nations Cup quota (assuming another top nation didn't also fail to qualify).

As a recap, here's who is currently still eligible for a quota at the 2023 Nations Cup Final:

:BRA :COL :EGY :ITA :MEX :SUI :USA :UZB

Italy and Switzerland could qualify via the European Championships while the Pan American Games will likely remove 2 (maybe 3 should Canada fail) from the list

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
