Here it's called a 'matje', which is the smaller version of 'mat'. Mat is pretty much this, which I think is the same in English but I'm not sure, hence the picture.

Yes that is a mat :d

The dominance of the 3 guys really was bad for the women's 800 m, before those 3 started to dominate we had girls like Jozwik or Bishop who were much better than everyone we have now except for Wilson (but she was caught before, so everyone should cheer against her). Those girls got really unlucky, if they would have been born a couple years later, then they could have won an olympic gold next year.

Was Lyle the guy who was caught and then was still allowed to compete or was it someone else? Also nice job by USADA once again, 50 % of their athletes in the men's 4 x 100 m relay will be known cheaters, i hope they drop the baton in Doha once again.

Wait what, triple jump is being kicked out of the Diamond League too? :hairpull:

Can someone kick the IAAF in the balls?

Good to hear, hammer throw, triple jump and race walking should be thrown out of the olympics and every other major competition.

Christian Coleman missed three random tests, got off on some very complicated technicality, so not as completely clear as Gatlin.

When are they introducing the 50km walk to the Diamond League circuit?

I heard they're planning to have it as closing event of every Diamond League meet, starting after the last track and field events finished.

Going from one venue to the next, like the Olympic Torch Relay.  Obviously nobody wants to do the Shanghai-Oslo leg.

    • For the summary and lowlights of Thailand's preparation in hosting the ongoing Sea Games, I kindly suggest those who are interested to read from this English language article from Thai media outlet, Thai Enquirer: https://www.thaienquirer.com/63469/thailands-sea-games-2025-under-fire-budget-management-and-technical-controversies/
    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
    • After looking at the entry list of athletes in the official website, I've changed some of my predictions in the Olympic events with these changes:   Total Tally: Thailand 87, Singapore 51, Vietnam 48, Indonesia 33, Philippines 24, Malaysia 22, Cambodia 1     Badminton (5): Malaysia 2, Thailand 1, Singapore 1, Indonesia 1   Men’s Singles: Switched from Thailand to Singapore     Boxing (11): Thailand 8, Philippines 2, Vietnam 1   Men: -54 kg (-55 kg): Thailand, -60 kg: Thailand, -63.5 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -69 kg (-70 kg): Thailand, -80 kg: Philippines   Women: -50 kg (-51 kg): Thailand, -54 kg: Thailand, -57 kg: Thailand, -60 kg: Vietnam, -66 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -70 kg: Philippines     Sailing (7): Thailand 4, Singapore 2, Malaysia 1   ICLA 6: Switched from Thailand to Malaysia     Taekwondo (8): Thailand 6, Vietnam 2   -67 kg: Switched from  Vietnam to Thailand     Weightlifting (5): Thailand 2, Philippines 1, Indonesia 1, Malaysia 1   Men: -65 kg: Malaysia, -94 kg (-95 kg): Thailand   Women: -53 kg: Thailand, -69 kg: Philippines, -77 kg: Indonesia   * I saw that they have actually change the weight categories to almost match that of IWF newly introduced categories from several months ago.      Wrestling (12): Vietnam 7, Philippines 3, Indonesia 2   Men's Freestyle: -57 kg: Philippines, -65 kg: Vietnam, -74 kg: Vietnam, -86 kg: Philippines Men's Greco-Roman: -67 kg: Indonesia, -77 kg: Vietnam, -87 kg: Indonesia, -97 kg: Vietnam Women's Freestyle: -50 kg: Vietnam, -53 kg: Vietnam, -57 kg: Vietnam, -62 kg: Philippines
    • Many permutations possible in the last game, going to be a nail-biter!  v  is the live game on the Olympic Channel later today.   2025 WCF Curling Olympic Qualification Event – Kelowna, Canada   Team   Wins   Losses   Men       CHN 6   0     P USA 5   1     P JPN 4   2     NED 3   3     PHI 3   3     KOR 2   4     NZL 1   5     POL 0   6
    • This is absolutely ridiculous. If you aren’t willing to celebrate Pride then you should simply not come to Seattle. You have to respect local customs.   https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c208392884jo
