I received an objection regarding my entry. Thus, I want to officially ask for your opinion on this matter and whether I can keep the given song or I have to change it. In the objection, it was noted that the entry is sung in Slovak by a Slovak band, but as I myself described in my Entry post, it is a "Rock-Pop-style-reworked" cover version of a well-known Polish-Ukrainian folk song (which is also considered a national folk song also in some eastern and northern Slovak mountainous parts), but the fact is that the first mention of the author in the 19th century refers to a Polish composer. The objection argues, According to the rules, cover versions can participate in TISC but just under the country of origin. My defense is that : As it is a cover version of essentially a folk song, sung except in Poland also in today´s Ukraine and in a significant part of today´s Slovakia, I did not consider it such a problem, that is why I entered the competition with it, as you know I try to never broke any rule of this competition, Once I already changed my entry during the Mexico contest for another almost similar issue, thus, I am asking you both for your opinion on this situation. Thank you. So I have reviewed this case and read the notes included in your entry post. I see that this song has connections to Poland, Ukraine and Slovakia and you have highlighted that fact when presenting the entry. I am happy to allow some flexibility in this case as with old traditional folk songs, it's often hard to trace the first root of the song and they sometimes have connections to many nations as is this case. I contacted the other party and they said they are happy for Slovakia to enter the song. In fact there was not an objection to the entry, just a friendly note wondering if the song was eligible since it was a multi-national folk song. So now that I am happy that the other user is ok for Slovakia to enter the song then I am also fine with allowing flexibility in this case as there is no doubt Slovakia has a genuine connection to the song. heywoodu, Hipooo, Dragon and 1 other 2 1

If you walk through any Portuguese big city during September/October you'll see hundreds of students dressed like this, and a fun fact is that it was actually this traditional clothes that inspired the Harry Potter's world Hogwarts vests. I'm bringing this story because, apart from dressing like this, students get organised in traditional Portuguese university musical groups, called Tunas Académicas, where they go play and sing across the country during the school year. So this year Portugal proudly presents a truly traditional Portuguese song, from the University Student music group of my own University (IST), which is called TUIST (Tuna Universitária do IST). P.S - I was actually in the audience during this video's show (thousands of years ago haha ) TUIST - Se um dia não houver luar We also have tunas universitarias in Spain and I think that some LATAM countries also have them, but in each country they sing with their own style. Out of interest, Would there have been a problem if I entered a song by an Northern Irish artist to represent the UK? I had considered it.

I had considered it. Not really to be honest, what we could do is have a private message just before the song is entered and if we agreed that either nation can enter the song then why not. I know I had similar questions in my mind about some Northern Irish artists so it’s definitely something we could discuss in a PM if needed. Cobi 981 Posted October 2, 2022 #130 Share Posted October 2, 2022 ESPAÑA This is going to be the 14th participation of Spain in TISC and for the first time ever we are going to send a song in English. It is also the oldest song sent by our delegation in an Open edition. I am not the biggest fan of sending a song in a foreign language, but I am going to make an exception with this one because of the context. I can count with my fingers the English songs performed by Spanish singers/band that have become famous in the country. This was the first one, in 1966. In the 1960s, Franco's dictatorship started to show some apertureness to the outside world and British music spread quickly in the big cities. Because of this, young musicians in Madrid and Barcelona joined to form bands copying the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. The fan phenomenon was born in Spain with pop and rock groups like Pekenikes, los Diablos, Fórmula V or Los Bravos. The four bands had hits in the late 1960s, but the biggest one was Black is Black from Los Bravos. I hope you enjoy it! Los Bravos - Black is Black Lyrics: Quote Black is black I want my baby back It's grey, it's grey Since she went away, oh oh What can I do 'Cause I-I-I-I-I I'm feelin' blue If I had my way, she'd be back today But she don't need in time To see me again, oh, oh What can I do 'Cause I-I-I-I-I I'm feelin' blue I can't choose, it's too much to lose My love's still strong Oh, maybe if she Would come back to me Well, it can't go wrong Bad is bad I bet I feel so sad It's time, it's time I bet I found peace of mind, oh oh What can I do 'Cause I-I-I-I-I I'm feelin' blue I can't choose, it's too much to lose My love's still strong Oh, maybe if she Would come back to me Well, it can't go wrong Black is black I want my baby back It's grey, it's grey Since she went away, oh oh What can I do 'Cause I-I-I-I-I I'm feelin' blue 'Cause I-I-I-I-I I'm feelin' blue
