C2 easily win their QF, but should be noted they were slightly slower that race than the heats.  They didn't need to go faster, so it's still unsure how they'll stack up in the semis.

They seemed to pick it up near the end. But who knows really.

Decent chance Steen ends up un the repechage given he lost to the defending champion. Probably no medal though

He will be destroyed by the Cuban (Italian) in the first round. Getting two points (and the first two) on the USA was already a win lol

I fear for the future of wrestling in the country. Hoping the program can rebound in 2024 but I don't have high hopes of that happening.

Do we even have any real prospects coming through the pipeline?

Just looking, Z-M doing great in diving, likely in 5th after the first round.  Looks like a disappointing 5th dive, but was killing it in the first 4.  Wow, hope he can clean up the 5th one moving forward.

He had the 2nd highest dive of the qualification, just barely behind the top Chinese diver!  I have to go rewatch this, been doing errands all day.

Dhesi was World Junior champion but look where that got him.

In junior level Pan Am events Canada is not producing results.

    • Of the top teams the world with traditions, only Portugal didn`t play in 3 World Cups in a row: 1986-2002 (1990, 1994 and 1998), but then fewer teams played in the World Cup than now. I don't really remember what caused the crisis in Portuguese football in the 1990s or how it was done with this later? Perhaps we should follow their example?
    • Well... If not qualifying for the World Cup for the third consecutive time isn't enough to bring about change in Italy, I can't imagine what will be.
    • Gravina is simply stupid and probably has some kind of hold over other important key figures in Italian football, since he was elected in 2024 with a majority of over 90% of the votes... I have a hard time imagining it any other way. Compared to him, even Carraro, Berlusconi and Moggi seem like nice and kind gentlemens   Some people believe that Calciopoli in 2006 began the decline of Italian football and that may be true. It only got worse from there, not counting a single accidental Euro 2021 win- something similar to Greece in 2004. In 2009 Roberto Baggio prepared a 900-page report on necessary reforms in Italian football, but the then-FIGC board tossed it into the trash bin. Now we see the consequences...
    • I thought our former football President was greedy, selfish, power hungry and delusional, but apparently he has an equal counterpart in Gravina. Some people just lack common decency.
    • Well, it's possible that Italians may be more bitter towards short track officials after the robbery they perpetrated against Sighel at the Olympics and therefore more willing to comment and criticize them, but it doesn't make the decision any less ridiculous.   Also, the fact we are Italians, and therefore used to the low standards of football refereeing, makes us especially qualified and trained to identify biased/crooked/incompetent judging
    • I think it was never in the history of our sport has there been anyone as brazen and stupid as Gravina. Before presidents would resign, or at least hide for a while, rather than go into a full-blow scandalous attitude with full larrogance and pride. I hope this idiot gets fired anyway, even if he doesn't resign.
