The CIJF annouced some program chnages for the 2027 Jeux de la Francophonie. Link: https://www.jeux.francophonie.org/actualites/nouveautes-erevan-2027

Theater will be added to the artistic disciplines, while 3x3 Basketball, Wheelchair Basketball, Breaking, weightlifting, and chess (team) will included as part of the sports program. Judo, Table Tennis, Football (men's team) and athletics (including para events) retain a spot on the program as well.

It would appear that basketball (women's team), road cycling, wrestling, and african wrestling have been dropped from the sports program.

:ARM not choosing to retain wrestling is a bit of a surprise in my opinion.

I read that the Jr Tae kwon do championships will be held in Mexico mid July and will also serve as qualifiers.

Any news regarding other sports?

Karlsruhe :GER has applied to host The World Games 2029.

Are winter sports allowed at the World Games? It would be interesting if they decide to include Ice Stock Sport or Synchronized Skating.

I have no idea. Guess we'll have to wait and see what they pick.

I come across stories about Ulama every so often, and I think it would be great to see it in the Pan American Games.

Obviously, work needs to be done to bring it in line with international sports norms, but it would be a cool and unique edition to the sports program in my opinion. I do think it’s sad that uniquely Pan American (and indigenous) sports like lacrosse and ulama have never really been featured at the continent’s biggest sporting event.

I find it more possible to be included at the Central American and Caribbean Games than the Pan American Games.

:GUA  :ESA  :PAN  :BIZ  :HON  :USA  :MEX have previously sent teams to the World Cup.

The last champion was :MEX playing the IV World Cup in Mérida, Yucatán, in December 2023. Next World Cup will be in :HON in 2025.

    • those who say that in the future, due to global warming and lack of snow, all sports at the Winter Olympics will have to be held indoors. Do you even think about what you are talking about? The FIS Cross-Country World Cup distances are 20 km skiathlon and 50 km mass start. Is there even a facility in the world that can host 20 and 50 km races? Is it possible? Well, let's imagine that such a facility was built somewhere in Paris and Monaco. Les Rousses spent so much money on building the tracks and infrastructure and then kicked it out of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup because Paris and Monaco, which have more money came to the FIS Cross-Country World Cup. Places like Les Rousses would simply go bankrupt trying to popularize the FIS Cross-Country World Cup, do we really need that?
    • Any word about TV Coverage?  Discovery has the five senior races as normal, but no sign of the age group races.  Locked away on Belgian payTV?
    • Ah good, was wondering what the relationship of Endurance Rowing was to Coastal Rowing.  They're wimping out a bit holding it at Genoa though, would prefer somewhere a bit more storm-tossed.
    • This was pretty fun to watch  Coverage was fine, racing was fun, no problem at all.
    • Thanks @phelps for gathering information   but World Skate is an Olympic federation now, yet they can't provide a basic result system for their main event.    OK I'm not asking for a live score system, but how hard it is to post results in PDF after each event ?    not talking about the sport but this IF doesn't deserve to be in the Olympics.
    • from Thursday, Sept. 12th through Sunday, Sept. 15th,  Genua hosts the Coastal Rowing World Championships in the Olympic Format (Beach Sprint)   it's the first championship since the discipline has been elected to the Olympic stage   last week, the Endurance World Championships were also held in Genua     the champions:   CW1x:  Monika Dukarska   CM1x:  Finlay Hamill   CW2x:  Katharina Lobnig, Magdalena Lobnig CM2x:  Igor Khmara, Stanislav Kovalov CW4x+:  Anna Sarah Sophie Souwer, Kiri English-Hawke, Marieke Keijser, Karolien Florijn, Dieuwke Fetter CM4x+:  Yuriy Ivanov, Mykola Mazur, Ivan Futryk, Ivan Dovhodko, Anastasiia Kozyr CMix2x:  Patricio Rojas Aznar, Amanda Gil Camacho
    • One more nation to reach decent number of 30 participants.
    • Inline Slalom   women's Slalom   Gold:  Mona Heller Silver:  Lorenza Cesaris Bronze:  Manuela Schmohl   men's Junior Slalom   Gold:  Mattia Pè Silver:  Christian Rondi Bronze:  Marcos Arias Sanchez
    • Judging always takes two or three minutes in these competitions - longer even for possible medal runs - for reasons above, so just saying DNI is a way of saying it's not worth comparing a fall on the third hit to a fall on the fourth hit since neither are going to affect the overall.
    • Scoring in all these events is a bit strange as they are not judging a pre-defined move to an absolute standard, as happens in diving, gymnastics etc, but are constantly shuffling around trying to score riders relative not only to each other, but to that riders' previous runs earlier in the competition and qualifying.
