THe Asian Winter Games are scheduled from Feb 4 to 14 next year, with all dates conflicting with the World Alpine ski championships. I wonder if that will reduce participation, as AS is usually the event with most countries competing.

The 2017 edition conflicted with the Nordic World Championships, and some NOCs opted for one of the other. I think a few sent the "A" team to one, and then the "B" team to the other.

Unless you need some points from the world championships, I don't know why you'd opt for them (especially if the bigger programs choose to go there.)

If they split up the West Indies it could be a good tournament.

Not sure if there's a cricket field in :DOM

They pushed hard for it at the 2015 Pan Am Games, but got turned down. Highly doubt its accepted unless its held somewhere else.

Bornan and FISU have entered a partnership. The joint press release seems to suggest they'll be handling the upcoming results systems, but it's not super clear in my opinion.

Anyways, Bornan continues to extend their influence in multi-sports games.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
