Today start the first two european championship qualifiers, a series of small tournaments in which teams compete for qualification to the various divisions of eurohockey championships. All of them will be contested during the following two weeks. 

  

Format is the same for all these tournaments: a round-robin, the 1st team qualifies to european division I for 2023, 2nd and 3rd places teams qualify to division II, 4th placed qualifies to division III.  

 

These are the tournaments... as you can see, we'll have some really bizarre match-ups.

 

 

Women

Qualifier A (London) -

yeah, I assume everybody and their dogs and moms playing this is ranked higher than Slovakia

For some reason, Lithuania decided to use only players from national junior team.... and as a result they are loosing 0-9 against other teams

Argentina 2...ops...I mean, Italy beat twice Ukraine (1-0 in today's decider) and they're back in the Top Division...

Tournament B: Ireland qualifies for top division.

Czechia and Poland for division II.

Turkey for division III.

 

Tournament C: 

Italy qualified for top division.

Ukraine and Lithuania for division II.  

No team for division III (Gibraltar withdrew before the tournament but presumably will play in div III next year).
