Equestrian FEI World Championships 2022

Apparently it's allowed because of the rules in Denmark...

So, yeah, he competed sick on Saturday (without disclosing it to public), and then he will also compete today.

Mind you, he was being interviewed after his ride on Saturday. As if nothing is going on. Incredible.

One could say that Dufour lost this title on the one tempis, but more likely it was due to her decision to ride Vamos Amigos instead of the much more experienced, and more refined Bohemian. Sure, Vamos posted some nice scores in Aachen, slightly higher than Bohemian, but that was an outlier.

Anyways, the new champion got slightly overscored, as it is very often the case with British riders, but hey, at least she doesn't have a fake, rehearsed persona like her more popular namesake. :p Fry seems to be quite shy in fact. Sort of like Rybakina of dressage.

Dinja van Liere got the bronze with a hilariously inflated score. Sure, Hermes has very nice and elegant piaffe and passage, but they are still largely unpolished (doesn't matter, the judges are turning the blind eye). In transitions his legs go every-which way, more like a deer rather than a horse.

And finally Isabell Werth got robbed. She should have won the bronze medal. She got demoted to 4th, basically, single-handedly by the British judge whose scores have been eye raising more often than not, to put it lightly. Hopefully he will not be returning for any major championships any time soon.

I know nothing about the sport but Charlotte Fry seems a likable character

Looking down the results sheet, :ESP Alejandro Sanchez del Barco delivered another great test with which he has qualified for the freestyle in 15th. Well done! :BRA Joao Oliva proved Tokyo was no fluke. In fact, today he placed 21st. Less than a percentage point away from the freestyle qualification. Way to go. Solid, but not spectacular 24th place for :LUX Wagner Ehlinger.

Luckily, all these teams had 5th rider on site, so nobody will be cut short.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
