Mehdizadeh out vs Morocco  and I don't think that guy can go all the way to the final . this is most probably the end for Mehdizadeh. he gave up 5pts in last 20-30 seconds to lose it 9-4. maybe it's time to find a replacement for him. this is the only weight we don't have much depth in it.

yeah, they did nothing for the whole match...but I don't like Saymatov's style at all, so I always pick his opponent in cases like this...

about the rules...I don't really  know how they got worse in these years instead of improving...I don't think 3 mins of regulation + 1 of OT could compromise the fughters' health...they can surely have (both, men and women) this kind of bouts...

and another thing. why the hell they have to start and finish one weight before moving to another one ?! sometimes they force athletes to fight with less than 5 minutes rest because of this  they easily can finish the 1st round in all weights, then move to 2nd round for all weights , the same as other fighting sports.

About rest between matches our player Giana Farouk played 4 consecutive matches in -61 kg without even a minute of rest while other players in the same pool had about 15 minutes or sinething of rest , because our experts in WKF intervere 2 categories in the same time , so the higher part of the pool finish their matches then another matches in other category and then the lower part

Maybe , but i think our federation who took a holiday whole last year is responsible for these results , in 2 years things can't change much like this , same players are participating , LIKE WE DON'T HAVE A VERY BIG BASE of players in this sport , many things this federation has done badly for the sport ps. i fear that officiating change and serve certain countries as long as the sport become olympic

so at the end of the day , only 3 of 6 Iranians made it to the final round. total of 5 . 2 for the gold. 3 for bronze. if all of them win their finals (which is almost impossible) this will equal our results in 2016 !!! (I mean for individual events, we also had a gold medal in team kumite) which is good because we know since Karate made it to the Olympics the level is much higher this time.

out of the women's team only one of them made it to the bronze medal match, surprisingly that was Sara Bahmanyar ! :yikes: I didn't even know her until an hour ago when I googled a bit about her :d she lost to the Turkish world champion in last 10 seconds so it seems she has a realistic chance for medal against Russia.

here is the summary of the finals for the Iranians

Gold medal matches

Men's 75kg: Bahman Askari vs :ITA Luigi Busa

Men's +84kg: Sajjad Ganjzadeh vs :GER Jonathan Horne

Bronze medal matches

Women's 50kg: Sara Bahmanyar vs :RUS Tatiana Rybalchenko

Men's 67kg: Hamoun Derafshipour vs :ESP Raul Cuerva

Men's 84kg: Zabihollah Poursheib vs :KAZ Daniyar Yuldashev

why there's no video challenge during qualifications like taekwondo , what's the use of such a thing in only a match in the finals , anyway the whole officiating process needs to change i don't trust these officials

actually there is video review...

you don't see the video crew at the judges table because now they are in a separate room (upstairs, in one of the big suites of the Madrid Arena), where they can watch all the videos on multiple synchronized giant screens and let the ref know what's their decision via radio communication...

    • People keep keep saying that Trump is Hitler reincarnated, but all these Day 1 proposals are sensible & unifying.   https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=08IIenrXCRQ     NB video is a parody.
    • In cross-country there were never mixups like that. And trust me, the cross-country calendar/results page has been one of my most visited pages on all the internet for a few years now, for obvious reasons

    • I can count for you, but what I will say is that I don't think it was a lot.
    • Off-topic, when I lived in Beijing there was a park across the street that had all the 2022 pictograms along its fence on the street. They were big and lit up at night. It was really cool, especially because the 2022 pictograms were very unique and creative.
    • They're not very creative or unique to Italy/Milano, but like others have said, at least they're understandable unlike Paris. These are very generic, though.
    • National law and sport rules are completely different. Like, there's a law in Canada that if you punch someone in the face you will get charged with battery. But if you're playing hockey and do it, you'll only get 5 minutes in a penalty box. Japan only recognizes gender at birth and this was not an issue in 2020(1).    Any law Trump and the Republicans pass can only apply to governmental organizations, i.e. school competitions. Private sport events, like the NHL, MLB and the Olympics, can still decided who can and cannot participate in what events. If the NHL wants a female goaltender to play, they can do that tomorrow if they want. If the IOC decides Semenya can participate in the female category, then that's their right as a private entity. I'm sure Hitler wasn't happy that Jews, black people and other groups were allowed to participate in 1936, either.    Of course, I've been saying for a long time they should do away with "male" and "female" categories and just have "Over/Under X amount of testosterone" categories.
    • Yeah, if they have all their FTA* live streams on one page, announced in advance, life will be easier. Before you had to sub to about 7 or 8 YT channels to.know what was on every week.   But the results/events Page is also easier, because previously they used to mix up World Cup & say, Balkan Cup events together.
    • UWW's new rules for change of nationality   this doesn't look great for likes of Bahrain, Albania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Serbia and few more.    still it won't make a huge huge impact for the next Olympic cycle because each NOC still can use 2 mercenaries per style in each tournament but after 2028 it will be reduced to just 1.    some of those countries already have 3 or 4 (or more) Russian mercenaries per style. from now on they have to pick 2 of them for each tournament. I assumed the new rule applies to previous mercenaries too . https://cdn.uww.org/2024-11/change_of_nationality_regulation_eng_oct2024_final.pdf also you can't wrestle for another country without a passport. (UWW allowed that for some years) current non-national wrestlers can continue like that until the end of 2026 though.   it could be better but in general I'm OK with new rules. good job by UWW.
