Brad Jacobs is 0-3 to start the Players Championship :facepalm:including a loss to Retornaz

Rachel Homan also struggling, 1-2 in her first 3

Taking into consideration her performance at the last slam, not a great sign with the Olympics in a few weeks…

Don’t worry guys . They are peaking for the Olympics. Just like when you were worried about Marco Arop a month out from Paris haha.

Their main focus is the Olympics and want to be able to perform their best then. They are just fine tuning skills, adjusting tactics and taking it easy in the lead up. They also don’t want to show all their cards to teams they will be playing in a month from now.

I aspire to have the optimism that you have, because having watched some of their games since then, not only have they been losing to not only teams they usually win against, but there's also been some embarrassing losses (mainly for Homan) that weren't happening earlier in the season and can't be excused. If they were all competitive games then, sure maybe. Could be that they peaked too early.

In curling it's hard to peak at the right moments, well unless you're Edin, I doubt it. :(

Homan with a bounce back win v Hasselborg. Dunstone beats Retornaz, and frankly hes playing better than Jacob's.

True, but at an Olympics I’d trust Jacobs more IMO. Dunstone has no international experience

The proof will be in the pudding... but I think there is a lot more of a hangover from Trials than most people appreciate. It's hard to peak for a gauntlet like that, especially when you've been focused on it for years, then recover, regroup and refocus. I think this accounts for a lot of our spotty record historically at the Olympics in curling.

It's not quite like tapering for athletics or swimming, that's more of a physical thing. Though there are similar elements, and you cannot peak twice in short order. It often takes months to properly peak again.

I wish we'd hold trials the season before like the mixed doubles do now, and several other top countries do. Let the teams plan their seasons around the Olympics, focus on that and properly prepare.

Sorry that was wrong

Scotties update

Lawes demolished Einarson in the 1/2 game to make the final, still undefeated :yikes: Sturmay beat Black in the 3/4 game to advance to the semifinals against Einarson, winner to the final.

Stevens and Peterson also made the playoffs, now on my radar for teams to watch for in the upcoming seasons.
