No shocker that LA 2028 scheduled the women's 800m free final the same day as Mcintosh's best event the 200 fly final. They want Ledecky winning that 800. Dirty play. But she has now said she will shift to the 200 free now to still accomplish her goal of winning five golds. This may actually benefit our relay in the end.

The 200 free actually fits pretty well onto her schedule. She won't have any doubles with any of her other individual events.

I don't know if it was that intentional. It's not like Summer has beaten Ledecky at that distance at a major event, anyway.

Like TM said, the 200 fits right into her schedule now, and with Titmus gone, she has a very good shot at gold there. It's not a bad thing to have her focus on that instead, maybe dragging the relay back on the podium.

What they should have done, especially with the addition of the 50s, is eliminate the semis for the 200 distances. They are rarely, if ever, necessary given the numbers.

If Canada were stronger in the relays, Summer would have a shot at 8 medals in LA (200 fly, 200 IM, 200 Free, 400 IM, 400 Free, 3 relays). But hey, if they banned China like they should have in Paris, she would have had 7 medals (and 2 in Tokyo). It's crazy that the corruption of China/WADA has cost Summer/Canada 5 medals (so far!). Something tells me, if it was the other way around it wouldn't have quite worked out that way.

Sorry, had to edit because I forgot about Summer's 400m free in Tokyo. So it's 5 more medals she would have had. 5 medals have been stolen from her. FIVE.

Can someone explain to me how Penny Oleksiak gets two years for a whereabouts violation, while China’s whole swim team had proven consumption of TMZ and faced zero consequences?

3:55.37 for Summer McIntosh in the 400 free at the US Open. First competition back from illness and goes the 2nd fastest time in history.

Yes, exactly. Double standards.

Same reason why Ben Johnson was globally shamed while they had to remove syringes from Carl Lewis' neck to put the gold around it.

2:02.62 200 fly for Summer McIntosh!

The 4th fastest in history. She also holds the 2nd and 3rd...and 5th...and 11th and 12th...and 18th...

Interestingly, this is only the 2nd 2:02:x in history, while there are also only two 2:01:x. In other words, no one else has even gotten close to that WR.

Also interesting, and not at all suspicious, is that the WR holder Liu's second best time is more than 2 seconds slower.

I don't think Horngacher will force him to withdraw.
