Under the veil of the Summer hype, MSH's 2:08.78 would have gotten her 5th in Paris and bronze in Tokyo, Rio, London and beyond. For World Championships, bronze in Doha, 4th in Fukuoka (of course), bronze in Budapest.

An absolute world-class time, and she's probably not even fully tapered.

Finally had time to watch! Wonderful night overall.

Good to see both Penny and Taylor under 25 seconds. Unfortunate for Kharun to miss the standard by 0.01 seconds but Liendo going 21.88 untapered is a good sign of things to come.

Sooo happy that Lepage made the team. That's her fastest time since her gold medal winning swim at 2023 World Juniors. And nice to see Dawson keep dropping more time.

And of course, as it's been mentioned already, absolutely incredible swims by both Summer and MSH. The 200m butterfly world record is seriously under threat tomorrow. And on the men's side, Knox slower than last year but wouldn't be too worried as he was dealing with injuries earlier this year. I'd say the 3rd most impressive swim of the night besides Summer and MSH would be Jankovics going 1:58.01. Huge PB for him and can't wait to see what he does in the 400 IM. I would say that the Canadian record is under threat.

Well, mixed bag today.

Of course, Summer is the big story as always and she just misses the World Record. Not surprising given the absurdity of the 200 fly world record but she'll give it another go in Singapore. Also nice to see Jansen get a PB. She's been swimming well this week. Given his NCAA season, I didn't have the greatest expectations for Kharun in this event but he proved everyone that he'll be right up their amongst the medal contenders again with his swim tonight.

Now for the 100 frees ...

For the women, cool to see Ingrid qualify for the relay. Not sure if she'll actually be given relay duty at worlds though. Other than that, not great times. Penny's been faster already this year although she seemed happy with the time. Would be a complete shock if we win a medal and given the renaissance of European sprint freestylers this year, not making the final wouldn't surprise me. I would be totally not using Summer and MSH for this relay and letting them get some rest. Hopefully some juniors step up within the next 3 years.

As for the men, 48.37 for Gaziev is a good result, 48.42 for Sauve is a phenomenal result. That was probably my 3rd favourite performance of the night. Liendo will hoooopefully be faster. Brittany MacLean mentioned he's also been dealing with illness this year so maybe that's also affecting his times. 49.13 is a slight PB for Senc-Samardzic I think. He's still only 19 or 20 so he's got a lot of room to improve. If there's a year to start integrating some of the youngsters into the relay lineups, this would be the year with the start of the new quad. Knox and Kharun could also factor into the final if they qualify.

50m breaststroke races went about as expected. Would've been nice to see one or two women get under the A standard but it's not surprising. Nice to see Dawson sweep all the men's events. Looking forward to his development over this quad.

Looking forward to tomorrow. Only 4 events but chances of A-standard qualifiers in all of them. And of course we'll be on WR watch in Summer's signature event.
