Looks like Mac Neil gets the spot in the 100 free

Also, as few other changes

Harvey dropped the 100 fly, but adds the 400 free
Smith will take that spot in the 100 fly
McIntosh dropped the 200 free

Harvey entered in the 400 free makes no sense to me at all. Why would she scratch the 100fly to enter an event 4x the distance when the 4x100m freestyle relay is the same day?

I've been thinking about what a bizarre choice this was all day. I feel like the 4x100m relay is on the bubble of getting a medal and they'll do something silly to lose the medal chances.

Yes, it’s been confirmed for quite a while now if you look through the Swimming Canada Olympic nomination procedure. It states something along the lines of “if you have the OQT and finish top two at Trials, then you can race in that event at the Olympics”

  • 1 month later...

5 medals on night one of Junior Pan Pacs:

  • Silver for Ethan Ekk in the Boys 200m Freestyle (1:48.76)
  • Bronze for Madison Kryger in the Girls 100m Backstroke (1:00.69)
  • Gold for Aiden Norman in the Boys 100m Backstroke (54.10, lead off mixed medley relay in 53.86!)
  • Silver for Julia Strojnowska in the Girls 1500m Freestyle (16:37.72)
  • Silver in the Mixed Medley Relay (3:49.91)

Keep in mind that Canada only won 3 medals at the 2022 edition (including not winning any gold medals) so we've already passed that performance on night 1.

    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
    • Belgium is the luckiest in this story
    • One of the worst possible draw for us. Group really easy but having to face  or  in the Round of 32 is devastating.
    • Always dreamed Gretzky will draw Slovakia was another moment I can already remove from my things to do before die list
    • Finland have been awful in almost all winter sports, well beside ice hockey and cross-country from time to time, for a lot of years. It's very good to see them building people to challenge for wins again. Their new coach has done wonders it seems.
    • 14th June in Philadelphia against Cote d´Ivoire   20th June inToronto against Curacao   and 25th June in Philadeplphia to kick out  home    Not easy, but not the most difficult group. Should be okay. Vamos
